I posted this in another thread, but sharing here as well. Enjoying the heck outta this GK head!

What's your rig of choice for this weekend? Part 2.

Nice too be back in a practice room today. This rig was able to move some air!

Posted this in another thread, but felt apropos here as well. Mesa in Orange 2x10 and 1x15 goodness!

What's your rig of choice for this weekend? Part 2.

Been way to long since I've gotten together with our band. Life and work have a way of interfering with stuff. Great jam today with this rig. Fender CS Master Built Jazz, Mesa into Orange goodness.

New MESA BOOGIE release - MESA/Boogie Bass 800D - 800W Bass Amp Head

It's a 1937 series 2x12, from the 80's. (Pretty sure it's been recovered since then) Made for the JCM 800 combo to sit on top of. It's a little wider than the 1936 2x12 cabs as well as the combo. Apologies for a brief derail... It sits beneath this.

New MESA BOOGIE release - MESA/Boogie Bass 800D - 800W Bass Amp Head

#86 has arrived. As in "86 any ideas about drowning out THIS bad boy." Albeit at lower volume with this particular 8 ohm "bass" cab... Into this closed back cab, it sounds glorious!

New MESA BOOGIE release - MESA/Boogie Bass 800D - 800W Bass Amp Head

so... I've been selling gear lately, "to thin the herd..." I can happily say that after Fed Ex stops off at my house tomorrow, the thinned herd will now be +1. :D More importantly, I'm re-energized to dive back into playing again!! Thanks to @agedhorse, everyone involved, and everyone here!

What's your rig of choice for this weekend? Part 2.

As do I. They mess up my scissor kicks and play hell with my knee slides.

What's your rig of choice for this weekend? Part 2.

Worth trying your rig at school to see if the hum is there. Or at home. Could help narrow things down. I've used a Morley Hum Exterminator and it's worked well. Another thing to try is a higher quality ac cord. (not to imply yours is not). I had an issue with an Ashdown head once and that...

My Dirt Bender - Another Jounal

Perhaps a vintage 80's Boss Bass Flanger? Preferably in mint condition, with box/manual, of course. :D

What's your rig of choice for this weekend? Part 2.

Thanks!! I acquired maybe 6 months ago, but it needed a little bit of work. Oct 66 Jazz neck, original P pickup. It came with the original lollipop tuners, but currently has Schallers and a D bender thing. I had my local tech put in the stacked pots and replace the DOA J pickup with a Duncan...

What's your rig of choice for this weekend? Part 2.

Haven't had a chance to play in a while due to work/life/etc. But had a chance to get this rig together today in hopes of some time with my band soon. '62 Bassman head, '66 P/J, and trusty Orange 1x15. Catalinbread WiiO helps to bring the extra oomph.

    Official Ampeg Portaflex Club

If I recall, I thought they sounded good. Beefier. For some reason, I think I landed on some Tung Sol 5881's in there. Sorry, it's been a minute and I'm not recalling much else! If the coffee kicks in and jogs my memory, will advise!

SWEET! I'm psyched to revisit this!

    Official Fender ACB Club

I did via one of these. I wasn't blown away. If anything, I found running both channels felt "cluttered", if that makes sense. I prefer using one channel at a time. Of course, everyone's ears and needs are different.

    Official Fender ACB Club

Oh man. Throw in the re-tube and that gets even more complex. I don't envy you as you don't really have a wrong decision. In addition to the 1x15 in the photos earlier, at home I've stacked mine on an Orange mini 2x10 and it looks and sounds really good. Sounds like an amazing collection...

    Official Fender ACB Club

That is a tough one. I'd say go for it, knowing that if you don't connect with the ACB, it would be easy to get another Ampeg rig down the road. I had both at one point, and sold the SVT head. Just too heavy. The ACB isn't "easy" to move, but it's much easier. I use the casters, but then...

What's your rig of choice for this weekend? Part 2.

Friday night gig in Austin. This was the first time I gigged the ACB (with a 1x15 ext cab). Not the cleanest tone, but that was aok with me as tube grind was exactly what I was after. No mic or DI was even needed. It was actually dirty enough that I didn't have to kick in EQ or boost. So...

    Official Fender ACB Club

Used this rig last night. Loud mic'd guitar, and mic'd drums. Sound guy quickly ascertained this needed no DI or mic. Only pedals were occasional fuzz and/or flanger. Sounded great! (I backed off the bass dial a bit)

Fender Limited Player Plus x Blu DeTiger Jazz Bass, what?

I own one. It is a cool looking and great sounding bass. I had the good folks at Sweetwater put some Roto's on. In the vid attached, at about 9:00 Anthony has a pic of the chambering.

What's your rig of choice for this weekend? Part 2.

Well THAT is a good question this morning. And a good learning for me as I've just learned that the HE is 8 ohms and HLF is 4. I (wrongfully) assumed all Ampeg 4x10's were 4 ohms and just plugged and played at 4. Best I can tell, it was was a HLF. But good lesson for me as I usually don't...

What's your rig of choice for this weekend? Part 2.

Nice to get out and play tonight. 80's Fender Jazz Special into a 100T. Sweet 4x10 was backline. GK was there as backup, but not needed.

What's your rig of choice for this weekend? Part 2.

Love that mic!! (perhaps the first time ever in TB that reply has been uttered.):D p.s. killer rig, too!!
  27. Rich67

What's your rig of choice for this weekend? Part 2.

It indeed is the ACB50! I'd say similar (at least 80%) with the 100T on the vintage channel. To my ear the 100T has a bit more low end presence. Could be the wattage difference, it also could be the cab. Admittedly, I didn't spend nearly as much time as I would've liked... W*rk inserted...

Show me your compact pedalboard setup

Used this at rehearsal last night. Swapped an Edison for the Double Down to allow for two amps at the end of the chain.
  29. Rich67

What's your rig of choice for this weekend? Part 2.

Got to stretch out a bit yesterday in the big room at our rehearsal space. Too much firepower for both rigs at an upcoming gig, but man it sounded nice. I split the signal to both amps using a Double Down at the end of my pedalboard.

    New Origin Effects DCX Bass

Rats. I really didn't need to hear this... I may need to order a 2nd.

Question - at times do you run both simultaneously? Or choose one, depending on the song.

    OFFICIAL ASHDOWN CLUB

This will sound ridiculous, but try a different power cable? Even if you're using the one it shipped with. I had a noise issue a few years back with an Ashdown head. I don't recall if it was intermittent with one aspect of the amp, but it solved things. I know seems ridiculous, but worth a try.

Welp, I guess that answers the question "What gear should I shop for today?"

What's your rig of choice for this weekend? Part 2.

Killer rig x2! Those Ampeg SVT 212s amazing, I've yet to hear anything that doesn't sound fabulous through one. (Funny - I too, like my 100t better than the SB. But the SB is much more reliable, ime)
  35. Rich67

Finally played through an Ampeg Micro VR and SVT-210AV cab

Pretty well, actually. High marks in portability and ease of set up. Not "quite" the same as a single 4x10. But close enough for me. These days weight of a cab is something I think of more and more. (particularly after lugging 1x15's last night.) Thanks for asking as I'd forgotten...

Nice looking bass, and rig! Question; do you run your Sanamp into your GK? Or is one for FOH and the other for stage?
