hi Nigel! So long as you're not stringing through the body, any that will fit the scale length should be fine - my preference is for Dunlop flats, but I've also really enjoyed Labella, Bass Centre Elites and Tomastik. I've yet to try the Dogal strings but I hear really good things :)

My system is good old fashioned stereo - hard panned left/right out of my MOTU Ultralite - so it's mainly stereo effects like reverb, chorus, delay, and some panning filters that give it width... I don't generally run loopers out of one cab and other signal out of the other, except on one patch...

hi! first thing to do is find presets you like, and them modify them. Makes life a whole lot easier. secondly, one of the biggest tone-shaping elements of the G2 is the amp simulator. Go in and play around with it. You may well end up just turning it off for most sounds. I leave it on...
