Just got mine as well, and I concur with all your sentiments here. I cant fully compare to the real deal, but from clips I've heard of the real thing, this sounds just like it. if anyone thinks they are interested, its definitely worth the 70 bucks.
I threw some Labella Super Polished on mine today, and i think this is the string! its a tad bright but i know that will chill out a bit in a week or so. Can Recommend!
The more broadly usable is exactly what I’m after. I’ve been playing this thing non stop since I got it and the flats are def starting to die a bit. I just ordered a set of gold whites and super polished rounds. If I’m not digging those I’ll snag the coppers
Im about to put some Nickel lo riders on now. will report back
Update: Nickel lo riders sound fantastic on this bad boy. obviously its a bit more rock and roll than funky fwunk. but so far so good!
Just received my Joe Dart bass, and im happy to report there are no issues whatsoever. the fit and finish are flawless, and no tuner or truss rod issues. Hope everyone else has the same experience that gets one, but i am very impressed at the level of detail for a 400 instrument.
Long time lurker on this thread and a proud finally v1 owner. For the past year I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a slampegg pre but never pulled the trigger as I would rather have a single pedal for the pre and d.i. So I came here to do some recon on how people feel about the Venus, but...
Essentially yes, there is something about the way the attack of an OS clamps after the initial spike that I cant really get any other styles of comp to do easily.
I really appreciate all the info everyone put in here! it helped me a lot when continuing the search. I found that while the accountant is indeed its own beautiful beast. Orange Squeezer variants were exactly what i was looking for. so i went down that rabbit hole and bought a few different...
This was next to try on my list. i saw a demo and swore it was exactly what i was looking for but didnt want to risk it for the price without confirmation. CHEERS!
I love that passive mm sound. I was about to buy a used SB4 and gut the electronics to make a faux dart bass, but when they do show up, SB4s are around 400 so i figured its cheaper to buy the actual dart and upgrade the tuners if necessary.
ill get right to the point. I'm looking for a compressor that when heavily compressed, gives me an audible pop / attack on each note played. I don't know how to describe it other than a pop or a sharp breath where the compressor is almost overloaded at the initial transient. I think technically...
Im very glad you did post it because it showed me that it wasnt just a one off issue with my bass and subsequently saved me wasted time and effort trying to get another one. I found this thread when it was only 3 pages long and have since gotten an older ray34 that is killer. sucks that its...
Mine just came in today as well. played for about 15 min and i dig it so far. can get from real nasty fuzzy to tight distortion. 18v is required IMO way better bass response vs 9v.
Oh baby. super stoked to hear how this performs. I've been an ego user (end of chain) for awhile now, but have been tempted by the di / compressor combo of the pulp n peel. Looks like my patience paid off cause this on paper is everything I want!
SBMM never got back to me. I even followed up with a normal email from a different email address to no avail:( makes me sad, so I returned the purple one and found a used Koa MIK that i snagged for a decent price. I really hope they figure all this out but I won't be getting another to find out...
I just emailed SBMM directly. Wrote about 5 paragraphs of bloviated drama for the entertainment of the support staff, but in essence calling out the total incompetence of QC and the clear corner cutting on an already cheap but vital piece of the instrument. well see what they say haha
Funny you should say that about your tree being loose cause that's how mine started. I gave it a quarter turn and snap there it went. It partially makes me feel better that it's not just me and I'm not giving up on sbmm on the least bit. I just may be off the black hardware for a while cause...
I just got my purple sparkle in as well and have the exact same tuner issue. Huge bummer as my firemist silver ray34 had no such issue, the black tuners must just have a real issue. Also the string tree screw snapped off flush in the headstock which I've never seen before on a brand new bass...
