The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

OK, I’ve been waiting for the furthermore for a while now…my Ampeg sound is currently covered by my BDDI…but was planning on a furthermore to replace that.
Thinking this will be the best DI solution, but don’t want to miss out on a Neptunium if that is the best thing for me.
Still going to hold out for a Furthermore….I haven’t seen the specs on that in a while, but my recollection is that it checked a LOT of boxes for me.

Had another outdoor gig, this time in Wheaton IL.

Beautiful city and people. Had a great show and the UA and Neptunium are still a pleasure to play through. Love the combo with my HX Stomp.

I have done about 13 shows with it since July 4th, the notes are really weighted and make my AV II P bass sustain with beautiful full resonance, but I’m sure my Stella comp contributes to it as well.

I have a pic of our ampless stage and if you squint real hard you can see my Sushi pedals in the bottom right.

For anyone wondering (I've received 6 messages so far) my website is currently down. Apparently checking the box for "auto renew" on the hosting service wasn't enough for them to actually do it, and unbeknownst to me it expired a few hours ago. I've renewed the registration manually and the site should hopefully be back up shortly.

The SVT has a Baxandall tonestack for Bass and Treble, the inductor is to set the Mid frequency.
It would be impossible to calculate the frequencies for the Mid if you do not have the inductor ratings, perhaps Nathan could tell us what the taps are for the inductor ?
You can use the Okawa calculator to work out the frequencies for the HP setting and the 4 BP settings in the SVT Mid control.
The Bench tone stack in the TSC on the web can also be used to judge the individual settings by using the Mid and Bass settings.

But you still need the inductance of the inductor to work anything out.

Another design that copied the SVT was Bajamans Baja Ampeg SVT bass amplifier pedal on the FSB forum but he used different inductor values.

Long time lurker on this thread and a proud finally v1 owner. For the past year I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a slampegg pre but never pulled the trigger as I would rather have a single pedal for the pre and d.i. So I came here to do some recon on how people feel about the Venus, but lo and behold Mr sushibox is already working on the grand slampegg which I think is my dream preamp pedal. 6sl7 and all! I shall eagerly await the official announcement of this future gem!

So if I am wrapping my head around this properly, Furthermore will have HPF, DI, passive B/T and an active mid that can boost? I have been reticent about VZ because it's designed to be clean only, but that'd check all my boxes.

I'm not telling y'all anything you don't know, but I just finished playing a 2½ hour block at a BBQ competition (best smelling gig ever), and that beautiful Underground Accelerator transformed the backline Acoustic amp into something warm and welcoming. It was the sonic equivalent of that award-winning smoked brisket.
I'm salivating trying to imagine how fun that gig was!

Thanks for the kick-in-the-pants -- my UA is (believe it or not) not on a board at the moment.

I blew up a board with the UA on it awhile back and, well, other boards somehow got higher priority.:eyebrow:

My understanding is that the SVT's bass and treble control are a baxandall circuit. It's the mids that are active. I may very well be wrong about this and am open to correction, but i do recall reading this somewhere.
You are correct.

Thinking this will be the best DI solution, but don’t want to miss out on a Neptunium if that is the best thing for me.
I have some bad news for you my dude. The last of the Neptuniums I'm planning to build sold and shipped yesterday, the only avenue now will be used.

perhaps Nathan could tell us what the taps are for the inductor ?
You would need inductor values and capacitor values, but I'll save everyone the trouble and the selectable mids frequencies will be printed on the pedal.

Most importantly, since finally has a period, I'm assuming furthermore will have a comma?
Well I guess it does now. I'll go ahead and pretend that was my plan all along.

I saw on one forum they had 100mH, 300mH and 800mH taps on an inductor they hand-wound but that is no guarantee they were right.
I was just curious in case you had ordered too many and might be able to sell some to people who likes to experiment, or who needs one for their SVT.
:D

The technical phrase for describing the UA is "clutch".

"Clutch" is right.

I have not seriously even played with the EQ on my UA. I have it pinned between a Broughton SV-Pre (clean) w/ mid boost about 400, and a Broughton Messenger Jr w/ mid boost about 800. UA Gain set at noon. When it is time to get nasty, I feed my YYZ w/ the drive at 3 into this.

The UA does "the thing" "beautifully and I have not felt compelled to even use the EQ yet. Although I like it being there, and at some point will figure out how to use it.

I am planning to make them available for those that want them as a replacement for an SVT, and they are tapped at 100mH, 300mH, and 800mH like the original.
