We can analyze this like gentlemen for dozens of pages. Or, you can put on the sunglasses and bring the thonka thonka, because you are a party animal, and you live to rage, and there may be no tomorrow, but not if you have something to say about it.

    Sitting playing position

I'm playing a Spector as well, on for about 3 years. I'm typically sitting with it resting on my right leg. But, like many are saying, there is no "right" answer, there are many ways to go about it. Reading this thread has encouraged me to experiment a little bit again, never a bad thing to do...

Short people who have played Warwick corvettes AND spectors

I'm 5'8" and play an NS-2. It's a little bit of a reach to the first fret and my hammer ons from F1 to F3 are slower compared to elsewhere on the neck. I've only been playing for three years, though, and my fretting hand is still applying vice-grip strength to the neck. So the reach is...

That sounds sick. You can tell this would be my first one of these, as I didn't know that was the name of the game. Would love to do a gear-meet, if we can find a host. Otherwise, I'll try and join my local synagogue.

Happy New Year all! I would totally do a poll for dates/place, if I knew how to. If someone can, feel free to pop that into the thread. Barring that, it's feeling like Oakland might be the most central for folks. I haven't been to Drake's in a while, and they have nice options for...

    New bass, keep stock strings?

Even if you don't like the strings, a couple months of regular play will wear them out, and you'll come away having learned about them. I've been playing for about 3 years and tried out maybe 6 different types of strings. Some I loved, others not so much, but I felt I learned a little something...

    One Direction...

One of my favorite things about bass is that it guarantees you a seat at the table for virtually all genres and contexts of music. Even in ways that guitar can no longer provide. Every now and then, there is a monkey's paw moment, but the benefits still outrange the drawbacks, by far imo.

    Spector Euro quality standard

I have a Euro 4, American NS-2, and an American NS-JH5. Build quality is pretty much to the tee on all three. I do prefer the tone that comes out of the NS2 over the Euro, but it's entirely subjective at that point. The Euro sounds closer to "classic" precision to me. All of mine were purchased...

Shipping a bass to Japan - questions

I got a bass shipped to myself from Japan in May, after I played it in Tokyo in person. It was from Ikebe and they used Fedex. There was a customs process and tax process. I would assume the same would be mirrored when shipping to Japan. For customs, it made it to the Oakland airport, then I...

What kind of straplocks do you use?

I have the gold Schallers and a pair of the ESPs in matte black. They're both great. Schallers feel a touch sturdier but the ESPs are a bit lower profile, which is a meaningful trade-off.
