    2026 FIFA World Cup Halftime

Even though the game was played in NY/NJ the show was geared to a world wide audience, not just the local crowd. I didn't watch it so I have no opinion beyond that -

My band couldn't cancel, did show with me the bass player and 3 fill-ins

I'll admit I didn't read the entire post but couldn't you have used a fill in bass player as well? :roflmao:

NYE Sub Gig - the adventure begins…

IMO this is a very good sign that they are willing to rehearse with you. I've experienced some bands with so little regard for the bass player that they will gig with a sub with no rehearsal. Good luck, have fun. Can you share the set list?

How Many Live Gigs Did You Play in 2025?

No gigs for me this year. :( This is the first year I haven't played out at all since I re-started playing bass 20 years ago. Very sad for me.

Fought my fear and tried out for a "real" band

Good for you. I have done this in the past, and not always to good results. So good luck. Can you share the set list.

    New Band 'Dress Rehearsal' tomorrow!

What did the guitar player think was the cause of the suckage? What did the other guys think? Is the guitar palter significantly more or less experienced than the rest of the guys? Did you do the additional abbreviated rehearsal?

    “Sons Of Cream” on tour

    The Meters - Cissy Strut

I once played at a pickup, no rehearsal or set list type charity gig. Aa we're discussing possible songs before we go on the guitar player suggests Sissy Strut. At that time, I had never heard the song or had even heard of the Meters. The guitar player says - it's easy, it's just 'C'...

Song List for the New Band!

I agree mostly but IMO 4 Tom Petty songs are not too many. Everyone likes Tom Petty and they always go over well. You could even play like 2 or 3 in a row with no problem.

Song List for the New Band!

Just a very minor suggestion but if you're going to play both songs maybe do Ziggy Stardust right into Suffragette City. I was in one band that did this. It works on the Ziggy album and works for a live cover band as well.

Two weeks into when we all agreed to start rehearsing and learn new songs....and two cancellations!

I think I actually did say the same thing in a different way. Either we play blues covers for the gig - as the drummer suggested and not the originals or I'm walking. (being out of town with the drummer)

    P bass hum/buzz

I'd also check the grounding as well. Can be checked with a meter from the ground connector on the jack to the bridge.

Two weeks into when we all agreed to start rehearsing and learn new songs....and two cancellations!

I find this interesting. You've been in this band 21 years and you think if you strongly suggested (or insisted) on playing covers instead of the BL's originals for this show, then you'd be kicked out of the band?? Yikes!! I understand that he's the BL but if you've been in this band for...

Guitarist Dave Edmunds experiencing serious health problems…

I saw Rockpile at Belmont Park on Long Island in 1979. Belmont park is a horse racing track. After the races that afternoon they had a concert. Rockpile opened and Blondie was the headliner.

Two weeks into when we all agreed to start rehearsing and learn new songs....and two cancellations!

That's too bad. The best/most fun bands that I've been in - best music and best gigs - were with a group that were on the same page and liked to get together and rehearse. Good hang and good music. Sign me up for that every time. :bassist:

Pearl Jam songs make me nauseous

There are gigs to be had. Every band I've played in has been able to get gigs. I gravitate towards bands that play out once or twice a month. Typically breweries or tiki restaurant/bar type shows with mixed aged audiences. As I mentioned I play for fun and very little money so the...
