transcribing

Hi, in the old tape recorder days they had footswitches so you could stop a recording you were transcribing, write a line down and stop it without dropping your pencil. It made it easy. Is there a footswitch setup one can use today with computer or anything like that? Thanks, Charles

What are your methods for transcribing? I feel like my way is very inefficient. I literally go note by note and it takes me 20 minutes to get 8 measures down. How do you guys do it? btw I mainly transcribe Jazz

Any help would be appreciated. I'm looking for a program that can help me transcribe, I don't know if that even exists though. A problem I'm having while playing is writing down what I've played, I can write simple basslines down however it's very frustrating when I pump something pretty snazzy...
