Is there a footswitch for transcribing basslines?

Hi, in the old tape recorder days they had footswitches so you could stop a recording you were transcribing, write a line down and stop it without dropping your pencil. It made it easy.
Is there a footswitch setup one can use today with computer or anything like that?

I use StealthSwitch3 with a momentary switch. Can be programmed to do anything. Normally I use the footswitch to alt-tab between applications.
