AI is being pumped up everywhere. It might be the “latest thing” . . . . . . but definitely not the “greatest thing”

Artificial Intelligence in most cases is just that , ARTIFICIAL and usually loaded with half-truths and misinformation.

Here at Talk Bass we share information and help those who might need some assistance with most anything related to music, equipment and of course all things bass related.

Don’t depend on AI. Make sure what you share is accurate and true because searching for the correct info is becoming more difficult thanks to AI.

Sharing incorrect info could cost fellow members lots of money in unneeded repairs, purchases, and end up damaging or destroying their equipment.
If you don’t know the answer to a problem, just step back and let someone who knows offer assistance. If the thread turns into something you do know, step in and offer assistance.

I bring this up because misinformation is starting to pop-up more frequently here on Talk Bass. It’s much too easy to get incorrect info and believe it’s correct.
We need to make every effort to keep Talk Bass “The Place” for friendly advice and accurate info, for each of us, and future members.

Here's a freaky story involving an AI chatbot affirming a guy's delusions that contributed to a murder/suicide. It's very scary. Unfortunately, the most detailed reports are behind paywalls, but you can get the gist from this.

Overall, it falls in the category of “enough rope”.

I agree. I see way too much mis/dis-information on TB, and I usually step in to help correct such issues. Sadly, there are also way too many members who give those of us a hard time, basically telling us to F.O. :rollno:
A Forrest Gump quote that starts with “my momma says ____ is as ____ does” comes to mind.
The same dissidents have little, to no real life experience with the subject they are debating.

Usually starting they’re retort with “I’ve read “ “I’ve heard” “I’ve been told” etc
