I don’t use the H. I’m not humble at all when I post an opinion. Certainly not bashful about it. How about we post what we really mean. IAAMO = I’m adamant about my opinion. Or, ITAAMO = I’m totally adamant about my opinion.

I attach more value to "IME" than "IMHO" in others' comments. A self-awareness of the effects of experience can be more humbling than expressing often-over-reaching opinions.

IME, well, you know what they say about opinions.

This is another one. I thought the E stood for Estimation. It never occurred to me that it was for Experience

A lot of posts lately have “IMHO” at the end of every sentence. Do we really need to be saying that all the time? Do we not all realise that what someone says is their opinion? And does it need to have the “H” in there? (“if you think you’re humble then you’re probably not”). Just my opinion

Good point about the addition of "humble". But I DO see the value of adding "IMO" sometimes (although not at the end of every sentence!).

But on internet forums, it seems like somebody is always itching for an argument. So IMO () using it can often reduce the likelihood of an argument. Since we're all entitled to our own opinion, if somebody DOES want to argue, at least it will be regarding the topic itself and be less likely to become personal.

I didn't read all the posts, so if somebody has already said this, I apologize for belaboring the point..

I use IMHO and IMO a lot.

Yes, we should not care about what others say, everything we post is an opinion unless we have a couple of trustworthy sources, but sometimes I think it is nice to just let other users know this is your opinion, attitude can be read very different every text, if I go into a ramble and rant on why I dislike thick bass necks, I feel some people may get upset or take it to heart. So added either IMO or IMHO I think softens the tone.

It's a real problem in society, people/bots present their opinion as fact, or mistakenly it comes off like that, it is scary when you see people of all ages and generations just citing things like Reddit, Facebook or TikTok comments as fact, yes it is small amount of people and most people have common sense not to do that or agree that anyone taking those comments to heart is well uhhh a bit immature to say the least, and just a loud small few. Just because someone says "90% people do this." doesn't mean it's true unless it has some non-bias researched source, it is sad we have to teach that these days but oh well...

But still just seeing 1 person out of thousands doing that is still concerning to me, we live in an age of information and too much... Especially with all these bass choices and cab choices! Anyway just my ramble I'm sure I miss some things I wrote some papers on this topic of information overload and how people take internet social media comments too seriously. Just my opinion...

It's like YMMV. It's there to let others know that you respect their different opinions, beliefs and experiences.

While we do and should read posts like that -- often a mere statement of opinion -- the uncritical reader (sadly, A LOT of people) will mistake opinion for statement of fact, even if it is not intended. I've seen a lot of arguments arise from that in my time. So the IM(H)O is a safety net against uninvited contrarianism.

This. Stating the obvious has become necessary because people are so easily offended and will get angry even when nothing like that was intended or warranted. So we have IMHO.

If I type "IMHO" along with what should be considered an innocuous opinion, and someone comes at me with some extreme, profane, butthurt response, it's definitely on them. It will be obvious that they're just looking for a fight.
