Hello,
I'm planning to heavily modify my bass and install a couple of dualcoil jazz humbucker pups with a toggle switch for coilsplit so I can also operate them like jazz singles.
I've did some research here on TB and found that the location for the jazz neck pup is 27.922"(=709.21mm) or 27.875"(=708.02mm) from the nut.
I've measured my friend's roscoe beck 4, and it turns out the center of the neck pickup's front poll piece is 703mm from the nut.
I've also measured his atelier Z and the measurement came out 705mm.
(I'm quite sure I made an accurate measurement)
It seems that the both basses are off by about 0.19"(=5mm).
I was wondering if this maybe a dileberate modification by the manufacterer, or is 0.19"(=5mm) an acceptable tolerance?
I would appreciate if you experts can share your knowledge before I start cutting up my bass
