Double Bass 1/4" mounting jack

I am looking to wire a mic to a string mounted 1/4" jack. Does anyone know where to get one of these jacks (without a pickup attached to it).

If you have basic DIY skills, you can copy this. Just get a normal closed 1/4" jack. Bend a sturdy piece of metal on both sides, so that the middle part is 1-2mm narrower than the string spacing, drill a 9 or 10mm hole, mount the jack into the hole.

Thanks DMH2, but I was actually looking more for the part that mounts to the strings. I have fabricated my own, but it's kind of crude. I was hoping to find one that I could just mount the jack to. Thanks for the help anyway.

Excellent idea. I like it!!! The photo reminds me of the other thing I want to do. Get a right angle 1/4" jack.

Ooooh, I like this idea! Extremely simple and effective.

I'm trying this today, if I can find large enough washers.

You can also use a fully enclosed barrel type jack. They sell metal ones everywhere. RS carries a plastic version that works fine too. Install perpendicular to the strings and zip tie. Works pretty well.
