1 week clean !

You might consider giving up the soda for a stout beer a day. Or perhaps a glass of wine. Maybe even a Margarita (if you're daring). A bit of alchohol is healthy, I've heard.

...and it's delicious too.

I drink either a beer, or a glass of wine, every day.

The wine, I drink for my health. The beer, I drink because I like to go to the ice house and see my friends for a bit.

Cherie :)

Just a little reminder..

Diet soda is more dangerous in the long run then any normal soda. Those unnatural sweeteners they use is NOT healthy!

I agree. Too much artifical junk is not good for you.

My mother drank diet sodas starting in the early 70's, with Tab cola. She still drinks Diet Coke, almost exclusively.

She never lost any weight because of this, and she has a whole slew of health problems. Most of them come from lack of activity. I begged her for years and years..."Mom, just go for a walk. You don't have to have Daddy with you. Go walking with me! Go walk around in the mall, if its too hot! Just do something!"

But she wouldn't, and now she can't walk at all. Those diet drinks never did her one bit of good.

Way to go Kev!! Good job. :hyper:

I gave up soda almost four years ago. I went from FOUR or FIVE liters per day, to none. I had serious withdrawals for about two weeks. I would start to get agitated and I could barely resist the urge to go buy a soda. At that moment, I realized how strong of a hold soda had on me.

Now I can not even hardly stand the smell of soda. On a dare from my wife, I put a glass of Pepsi up to my lips about three months ago. It tasted to me like sugar and chemicals. No desire on my part whatsoever to drink it. I am free from the chains of slavery to soda!!

Sorry to hear about that :/

Have a friend thats like that. She eats waaaay to much salt and drink only diet soda because she thinks that better.. I beg her all the time to quit/do less of it but she just waves off my arguments because she is so stubborn :/

I went from drinking like a liter of soda two years ago to only drinking half a liter or so of diet soda last year and now I also ahev completely quit all soda since december 31st ( why wait for january first lol )

I have 9 days clean too. But not from soda (or turkey).

Awesome man!!!! :hyper: whatever it is, if it had a hold of you, fight back with all that you've got and then some. PM me if you need someone to talk to or some support. 6 1/2 years for me!!!!!!:D

Well, if it's crank, coke, or tobacco, it will no doubt prove to be a bit more challenging than pop.

Best of luck, and try not to become a Jesus freak. They tend to be more of a pain in the @#$ than junkies...it's a lateral move, IMHO.

You can be a Christian with out becoming a "Jesus Freak" God helped me out a lot through my quiting.

I do tend to agree with you though Basshole, the "Jesus Freaks" piss me off often even though I am a Christian as well.

Yeah mainly water for me too.

I allow myself some beer every now and then, but my main vice is coffee. I live the fittest, healthiest lifestyle overall, but just cannot kick coffee :(

Although I am only 19, ive never drank coffee.. ever.
Think that my dads addiction has made me see what a poison it really is :D

And yes to the beer every now and then, have to enjoy yourself aswell!

Soda is a rare thing for me. I only drink it in Mexico, because it actually tastes great there :D

Good luck with quitting soda! It's really not as hard as it seems... it's all in your head!

It's easier than quitting alcohol or smoking, that's for sure.

I have heard they still use real sugar and not "high fructose corn syrup" like in the USA. I believe this is why the taste is better.

Good deal, Kevin!

Back about November I did a few switches in my drinking and eating...although I don't do soda much, I did drink a bunch of coffee every day and added sugar and either milk or half and half to it. I moved to one coffee in the morning with 1% milk and then all day long I drink unsweetened hot tea. Its much more sustainable and I started to lose weight right away.

I then moved to having a very light lunch...either a small salad with fat free dressing or a bagel with nothing on it...and I've dropped about 15 pounds since mid-november. I just went shopping and I've lost 3 inches from my waist. I'd like to double the 15 lbs, and I'd be around 180lbs or so.
