Where I lay my head is home
Dear Friends

I just wanted to share with you that I have 1 week clean as part of my new years resolution. In an attempt to transition into my new life and to take off a few of the celibate pounds I have given up Soda Pop cold turkey , I wont even pick up the diet stuff. Thanks :)

For a second i thought you gave up eating turkey. And i was gonna be like,"turkey is one of the healthiest things!" but then my brain snapped to. I guess I've a few things to give up too.

Major kudos for living how YOU see fit, and for living healthy.

It seems a strange world out there where people only eat Fast food and drink something called "soda pop" ....

During the day I might have some fruit juice, water and a cup of tea...

I know nothing of this strange "sody pop"....? :hmm:

I use 'Soda Crystals' for unblocking the drains - but drinking that would be virtual suicide...:hmm:

Keep it up, man. I started drinking only water about 3 weeks ago. For me, the trick is to drink bottled water and keep it in the fridge. I can drink water and not break my habit of going to the fridge and grabbing a drink.

It's amazing what not drinking soda will do for you. Since I stopped, I have had neither heartburn nor headaches. The fact that I'm not taking in empty calories also helps.

Good going, Kevin. :)

I cut back from 3-6 sodas per day to just one, not because of the weight concern, but because high soda consumption is directly related to diabetes.

Each 12oz can has the equivalent of 9 teaspoons of sugar (high fructose corn syrup) in it!

Multiply that by 6 cans! 6 x 9 = 54 teaspoons of sugar, and that's not counting any candy, cake or pie you may eat! :rollno:

Mike ;)

Soda is a rare thing for me. I only drink it in Mexico, because it actually tastes great there :D

Good luck with quitting soda! It's really not as hard as it seems... it's all in your head!

It's easier than quitting alcohol or smoking, that's for sure.

Congratulations! I don't drink soft drinks, but I just don't like them anymore, for some reason. I didn't consciously quit, so I hope it's not too hard for you. I drink coffee for my caffeine buzz, and I've told people that I would refuse to get out of bed if there wasn't coffee. Good luck.

sorry just cant stand the taste of alcohols or coffee

I can drink alcohol, but oddly enough for a y00f in Britain today, I don't like getting drunk. I am immersed in that culture in that I do go clubbing and go out on the pull, but I tend to drink only a small amount of alcohol and just have water for the rest of the night. I got hungover once, and I say "never again"!

Tea and coffee I don't drink. I don't hate tea, but it's such a crap drink. It's hot, and so it doesn't refresh, and it doesn't stop hunger either.

I suppose through being picky I've set myself up with a clean lifestyle!

I gave up the regular soda years ago, other than very occassionally, but being from SC, my lifetime weakness has been sweet iced tea (necture of the gods). I mean it's so easy to drink a gallon of it at one meal around hear if you let the waitress keep refilling your glass. And anything sweet like soda or sweet tea doesn't even quinch my thirst. Last year I started drinking unsweet tea, and I wish I had a nickle for every empty calorie I've saved.

Good for you! I still have a soda now and then, but *very* seldom. May as well have a chocolate bar. Same calories, way more fun.

I've joined a special program at my gym. I did not work out for nearly two months. I was taking care of Mom, had a lot of gigs, and a heavy work load.

But Mom's back at her place now, and my work load has eased up.

So...I joined My Skinny Jeans. Its a program through my gym, sponsored by Fit America MD. It only cost me $5 to join. It is a 12-week program of fitness and nutrition, designed to change the way we eat, and to deepen our commitment to exercise. I will be supervised by my trainer, and I have a book and online support, too.

I'll let you know how I do.

I'm also trying to get my old all-female band to do the Self magazine fitness challenge with me. They all said they wanted to...but no one's gotten back to me with a completed application. I may be doing that one by myself!

Here's to no soda! (Raises of glass of water in a toast...)

Cherie :)
