I like 5, 8, 10, and 12 string basses
I am building a 10 string bass ... I have been thinking about this for years.

I was going to do the winter bass build 2022 thing but there were too many rules to follow.

I owned this 10 string bass here about 10 years ago.

it was a cool bass but I didn't like the pickups and preamp.

Dean Edge Hammer 10 string bass (3dentourage.com)

EDIT: I will be discussing multiple 10 string bass builds in this thread. Also you will notice that I change my mind a few times as to which parts will be used.

Nice. I’ve got an 8 string. If I played it more I’d definitely look at making a 10 string. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the saddles. Are you making some or is there a “stock” option you’re modifying?

I bought a neck, tuners, and a body. I have pickups and pots and preamps ... I am modifying a schaller bridge. I think this will work.

Definitely into this idea !!!!...I had that Dean a long time ago and I agree the pickups and pre really sucked..

ya the bridge pickup was useless, the neck pickup was kinda ok, and the 2 band preamp was not good. I kinda wish I had kept the dean 10 and put in better pickups and a 3 or 4 band preamp.

Having one of your RIC 4 to 5 conversions, if I had that Dean still, I would have sent it to you to experiment with :) ... still loving my RIC 5 btw !
