oh yeah... i worked them pretty hard in the mid 90's... had overheating problems with both, and actually blew the output section on one, and had partial failure on the other. all heat-related damage... im talking BLACK.

yeah, I was moving this thing around my house this morning without the speaker in it, and it was like moving a boulder. I'm rethinking the caster thing, I still have to pick it up and put it in my truck!
I'm obviously keeping the speaker and the amp, but the cabinet may go on the curb. It's stupid heavy

well in a way. I decided since I use a BXR head and play in a classic rock band, it would look great to have a fender cab on stage with me.
I saved the logo, ordered new fabric, and here are the results!
I'm actually using this head from the ugly one, because it has two working dual inputs, and my other one one had one that worked. Not only does that give me a backup, I'm using the mixer to feed in some of the bass drum (since we don't use subs)

Totally cool, way to make use of what you have. Those really were decent amps. With the knowledge I've gained from TB, I could build that amp and speaker into a combo that was actually fairly light and ergonomic for what it is.
Also, it's cool how our tastes change. What used to be weak and needed more woof is now just right and the other would be too woofy.

I just picked up one of these BXR 300C combos on my local Craigs List. It sounds pretty generic by itself (which isn't a bad thing), but put a Tech 21 VT Bass pedal in front of it and it really comes to life! This setup could really give you some tonal options.

The studio we use to rehearse in had one that I used. I think the speaker may have been replaced but the thing sounded real good with some tweaking,. I was surprised!!!
I had forgotten how heavy bass gear used to be! Mine is in pristine condition, all I did was clean the pots. I may just use it as furniture.
