Nice job! I have a piece of single ply black and or a piece of aluminum metal street sign you can have if you want it.P.m me and i'll send pics and if you want them i'll send them down.I've received many parts and pieces for projects from TB'ers seeing a project or question I had.I "pay it back" when I get the chance.

Mail Pouch? I don't know what that is, could you please elaborate or show me an example?

To the person who offered a black pickguard, I already have a black bakelite pickguard, which I'll probably put on until I come up with something better.

Mail Pouch is a brand of chewing tobacco that used to paint ads on barns from the late 1800s till the 60 s or so. Its hard to drive in a farming area and not see a old faded sign on a barn. Google it. A real piece of Americana ,

Agree on same-wood pickguard or using black.

Agreed that the maple fingerboard is too contrasty (?) with the body color. Perhaps a dye/stain? (This is possibly just me thinking visually combined with my lack of love for maple boards, so you don't have to give this much thought, perhaps.) :D

Also agree that aging the hardware would, like, tie the whole bass together, man.

Switched pickguards to the black bakelite, after I sanded it up to 600 grit to give it a chalkboard-like appearance. I like it much, much better!

No, I didn't do anything else to it. It already had the well-played patina, it just didn't show up as well in the previous photo. I think the sun was too bright that day. The pickguard does add some well-needed contrast, though.
