All of you are right. I'm going to man up and act my age and drive down there and tell them what I did. And the speakon cable's I took were in other GK to ampeg cab's the first speakon cable was in a 700rb to a 4x10 and a older model 1001rb I was plugged into a 6x10. I'm going to drive down there in a few minutes with my girlfriend. I will post what happens.

if an amp has meltdown on a retail store's showroom, i don't know how you could possibly think that you would be responsible unless you knowingly or maliciously did something to damage it.
if it was a new amp, the amp is under warranty from the manufacturer and they would just get a replacement sent to them. (beating dead horse now).

Good call. I don't think any of us were trying to be douches about the situation, but I think most of us have some level of moral disgust at that kind of a situation.

I built up the courage walked in guitar center and walked straight to the same sales rep. I had lied to and told him the entire story. He then thanked me for coming clean and told me it's not a problem that they just have to ship it out and get a new one. He told me it wasn't my fault and started telling me a bunch of the things that could have went wrong. I didn't understand majority of them because I don't build amplifiers and don't know too much about the "guts" But the trip was definitely worth the gas. I feel much better because know I know no one will get hurt trying to use the same amp. Thank you all for knocking some sense into me.

WOW Good On You Mate!!! Now That Took Guts!!! I think we could all take lessons from you on setting the recored strait...I know it is all to easy to try to find some way to get out a sticky situation by ether acting like nothing happened on making up some whopper..which most of the time comes and bites us in the A$$ later...ESP when it comes to telling our women Folk the truth!!!:eek: best Of Luck keep up the good Work!!! Good for you man. Personally, I would have told the guy straight away what had happened. However, I would have found it INCREDIBLY difficult to do what you did, going back later and telling him that I had lied. Congrats on manning up, you've done yourself proud.

Ahh yes, you see, the solution is simple.

GK and Ampeg are like siblings. They don't get along. In fact, there are times when you can see them fighting all day long. GK hates Ampeg, Ampeg hates GK. This is a classical case of the GK being totally smitten by the Ampeg. There have been cases where the GK will smite the Ampeg (usually the GK will use the awesomeness of it's non-current-limiting output) in the form of blown speakers, but it appears as if the Ampeg made a sneak attack and rendered the GK handicapped. Just another day.

Apologies to those who just wasted 30 seconds of their life reading that. It is in fact a joke, and if you reply to this post thinking I was serious, you are in fact a moron. I'm going to bed now.

But really, good job dude. Wouldn't want any good potential GK customers getting a premature trip to the graveyard! If they were looking to buy that Ampeg cabinet, well...it is of course another story:D

Yupperoni. This is Standard Operating Procedure in Retail, if it's a new product they don't try to fix it - the thing is, if it's used then they might try to have someone tinker with it and THAT's where we have to be careful.
