1001rbII Lit on fire

As bassmanPaul said, there is no difference between a GK speakon cable, and a regular 4 conductor speakon cable, except the GK uses really nice hardware and thick cabling. Lows go to 1+ and 1-, tweeter goes to 2+ and 2-. That's how my 4NL speakons are wired up. Almost positive the Ampeg 8x10 only uses the 1+ and 1-.

Has any one noticed that " abcdefranklin " hasn't made any more posting or comments about what happened ?
Seems to me that " abcdefranklin " is a real F-----IN' A-HOLE.
Someone asked in the first few posts " Are you a TEENAGER?
Very typical "TEEN" answer.....UH , What, I don't know....That was like that before I was BORN.
You should be thankful that someone else doesn't get hurt with that equipment....But then again what the F----K do you care as long as it wasn't YOU !!!
I now understand why children should be accompanyed by a parent when in a Music Store......Or any place else..
Especially THIS ONE !!!

I did the same thing to a friend's GK that I was borrowing at the time. I think I sent it a 2 ohm load. It cost me a pretty penny at the time to take care of it! I subsequently learned about matching ohms.

if it was a 1001RBII (like what the OP was trying out) it would have protected itself and just shut off until the impedance issue was corrected.

I killed an LM Tube in GC the other day. I plugged it in properly and was playing at a a very reasonable volume. Just as I was reaching to turn it off . . . POP, SIZZLE, and the smell of ozone.

I told the nearest GC guy what had happened and do you know what he did? He apologized to me. Sometimes gear fails. Sometimes it even fails in the store. I knew this and the GC guy new this and he was trying to keep me happy in hopes I would still buy something.

The moral of the story is: sometimes gear fails; when it does don't be a douche.

There is a difference between gear failing and gear catching on fire. I had a six month old 1000RB catch on fire and blacken my whole rack while sitting idle. Same story as the OP has. Granted the kid choked but if it actually hurts some one he is really not the one to blame. Maybe GK is.

So what were you trying to accomplish with this thread? Are you bragging? Did you think all the ADULTS and people with a pair between their legs would find this funny and play along and joke about how you broke some very expensive equipment, lied to someone else's face, and then laughed about it?

I can only hope that some day you'll look back on this and realize what an idiot you were...

Posting a facepalm image and alluding to testicles is not a good example of adult behavior. just sayin;)

I'll be the odd man out and say if that was me, I would have been dying laughing but would have told the salesman what happened if he asked. Nothing beats seeing a faceless corporation failing...

Bob Gallien isn't faceless. I don't know who runs GC, but it doesn't matter; having either of those corporations fail won't help you in any way, so I don't know why you'd enjoy watching it happen.
