$1100

I find $1100 to be one of the best price points for basses in terms of price to quality. What you get out of a bass after that price declines rapidly.

You should be more specific as to what kind of sound you want or what bassists you dig so the people here can help.

Personally I'd recommend a Musicman, Lakland, G&L or Spector Euro at that price.

My personal favorite bass is my G&L L-2500 with a Spector Euro 5 right up there. I've owned a couple of MusicMan basses which were great but a bit too zingy for me.

I prefer Music Man basses. You can get a really good deal on a nice Stingray, Sterling, Bongo, or Big Al that is used. Maybe in some cases, you may even find a new Stingray or Sterling for that price if you look hard enough.

I bought a used pedulla for well under a grand. Best bang for the buck deal for me so far. :D
Its purple but i dont care

new or used?

New man. Look up Carvin. You buy the basses straight from them (lowers the cost), and you get to choose what goes into your bass. It's kind of like a custom shop. You pick out the model of bass that you want, electronics, woods, finish, and just about everything else. Their build times are great, and their quality rivals that of instruments that cost $2000+.
