LOL, don’t be silly, of course not.

Also FWIW: Heat can affect a driver’s performance, which in return can change the sound. For example - overheating can cause failure and farting speakers don’t sound good. So stating that a bass drivers size could never affect the tone or volume, just isn’t completely true.

The reason this 'beat a dead horse' topic is so confusing IMO is that the many other issues regarding speaker design are not taken into account by the people on either side of the 'argument', so, like most other things, 'it depends'.

For example, if you take three drivers like the 3010LF, the 3012LF and the 3015LF that are designed for PA applications, they all sound virtually identical in the appropriate box. Of course, the 3015LF requires a larger box, and will produce that similar tone at a higher efficiency per watt (louder). So, that is an example of 'cone size' not really mattering tonally (the 10" driver goes just as low, etc.), but rather more impacts efficiency (i.e., choose the volume you need, and pick the smallest driver size that gets you there.

On the other size of things, a 3010LF produces significantly lower bass frequencies more efficiently than a 3012HO, which is voiced more to the midrange. So, in that case, the oversimplified assumption that 'larger drivers go lower' is not true (i.e., the larger cone size actually sounds like you would expect the smaller cone size to sound like, if all you are considering is the old 'bigger speakers produce more low end' assumption, which is equally wrong as an absolute)

I think what those who are saying 'it doesn't matter' really mean to say 'you can't predict low end response accurately using only cone size'. Once manufacturer's 112 box might have a much fuller low end than another manufacturers 215 box, given tuning and driver design, and having nothing to do with cone size.
 
Some of it has to do with motor strength vs. cone mass and high frequency response.

"Hertz" means cycles per second. Scientists like to name things after themselves and some guy named Hertz is the one who figured this out. That all happened before he went in to the rental car business.

Putting a heavier cone on the same motor is a bit like putting the same motor in a heavier car...it can't accelerate as quickly. In order for something to play 5000 hertz, it has to move back and forth 5000 times per second. If the motor can't push it around that quick, it can't play that high.

Mr. Hertz used this discovery to begin a dawning of a new age of sorts in the world of audio reproduction, and later went on to use this same new found knowledge to make millions renting cars.

OP: Many times (but not always) a 212 cab won’t be as loud as a 410 cab, so depending on which 410 cab you have and which 212 cab you replace the 410 cab with, you could experience a slight drop in volume.

Anyway, a lot of good 212 cabs have already been suggested - but, you’ll still need to test drive (preferably live) them to know which one YOU like best. Good luck and have fun. Cheers.:)
