1210

He is assking if there is a difference between schroeder 2x10 cabs and 2x12 cabs. Yes there is, try them out and get the one you like the best. Cheers.

Actually the 1210 isn't a 2x10 cab ;-).

For what its worth i have and use both a 1210R and a 1212L with MarkBass heads.
my 1210R is about three years old and my 1212L is less than a year so i guess this isnt really comparing like for like.
I would say there isnt a huge difference between them, the 1212L has always been a close relative of the 1210R but i find the 1212L to be smoother, less harsh, and with a tight but slightly bigger low end. The 1212L is also less middy than the 1210R.
The newer 1212L cabs also use a different driver so that also adds to the difference in tone. From what i can gather this would make more of a difference than just swapping a 10" for a 12". They give the 1212L a more conventional tone compared to the older cabs.
Out front at a gig i doubt i would be able to tell what cab i was using most of the time.

What tone are you looking for?
Im not sure how the 1210L sounds but its not as full as a 1212L.
If you can get to try it out be aware that these cabs sound better in a band mix and not at home or on their own. at least, thats how most people find them, myself included.
Personally i love my 1212L but if i was to take it in to a music shop and try other cabs out im sure it wouldn't be top of my list for tone. At gigs though ive not played anything that was small, light and can annoy my guitarists like a 12xx can.
And out in the room the tone is tight and controlled, still very loud (if needed) but smoother sounding than it is on stage.

I think the newer ones are better.
I had a chance to compare my 1212L to an older 1212L recently and i prefered the tone of my cab. There wasnt a lot in it though and i would be happy to use either but because of the new drivers i found my cab a bit smoother.
They have been evolving over time. Jorg like to experiment with different drivers and crossovers so i would Day the newer ones will sound different to the older ones.
Thats not to say the older ones will sound bad. Its all down to the individual at the end of the day.
I would PM or email Jorg if you have any questions. He is very helpful and i normally get a reply within hours, depending on the time of day and if he is busy of course.

I've used both 1212L and 1210L cabs on gigs and given the right circumstances felt that both worked fine but they did sound different... the 1212L sounded a little bigger and deeper. So far slightly bumping the amp's gain (I use a Markbass LMII) and maybe a tweak at the bass while using the 1210L made it a non issue. They're both nice cabs but you really do need to hear them to determine that.
