12ax7 replaced with 12dw7?

I have a kustom 300hd head that has bad high frequency hiss. I was sold a replacement for the 12ax7 but now I realize the tube is marked ecc832 which is 12dw7? Can I use it?

That is, new tube is 12dw7 and existing tube is 12ax7

It's a dual triode but unlike a 12AX7/ECC83, the two halves have different gain. One half is like an ECC82, the other like an ECC83. It won't do any harm and it may even reduce the hiss depending on which part of the circuit gets the low gain half.

12DW7 is bit specialist. Better with a 12AX7, much easier to find.
