12's?!! For Bass?!! Oh come now! Really?!!

So you're trying to tell ME, that a 2x12 cab. is gonna be deeper, punchier, warmer and clearer than a 1x15? (or two 1x15's)? I'm a firm believer that 15's are the ultimate cones/cabs for Bass guitar, and now someone comes along and tells me that 12's are where it's at for Bass! Are you serious?

Yup. I had a hard time believing it at first too, but the 12" bass drivers available today are nothing like what was around in the 70s when my opinions on such things first formed. The 2x12 I have now blows away any 1x15 I've ever heard.

I love 12s!

I did a back-to-back test of all the Ampeg BA-series amps in my local store (8", 10", 12", 15" and 2x10"). The 12" would be my clear first choice sound-wise, it's the perfect middle ground between 10s and 15s. I would rate the 2x10" second, then the 1x10". I didn't like the 8" and 15" much.

(IMHO) really suck for deep, warm, punchy Bass; in fact they're anything BUT that; but if these 2x12's are guaranteed to give me all of the above, I'd be all over that, no hesitation.

The NEO 15 isn't really voiced to go low. The NEO 212 is regarded as being more balanced and the NEO 410 can really go deep and low while also remaining very articulate and extremely punchy.

GK Neo 212's are full voiced and well balanced cabs. IME any of the GK Neo 12" loaded cabs are the superstars of that line. As for 12's vs 15's in general, I tend to like the voicing on more of the 12" loaded cabs produced these days than I do on 15" loaded ones - please notice I am referring to cab voicing and not directly attributing anything to speaker diameter.

One huge exception to that is the Mesa Subway 115. That cab is pretty spectacular when it comes to presenting a balanced tone across the full frequency spectrum, delivering serious bottom end without sounding muddy, and providing a lot of volume without becoming unfocused sounding.
