I happen to believe that the ultimate bass speaker would be a 13. If it weren't for that silly superstition, we'd all sound a lot better.

+1...I do the same thing. The 112/115 combination is excellent.
Been thumpin' 12's for 3 decades. My 2 x12 [and GK 1001rbII] will leave bruises.

So you're trying to tell ME, that a 2x12 cab. is gonna be deeper, punchier, warmer and clearer than a 1x15? (or two 1x15's)? I'm a firm believer that 15's are the ultimate cones/cabs for Bass guitar, and now someone comes along and tells me that 12's are where it's at for Bass! Are you serious?
My GK MB 112 kicks some serious ass , 200 watts ,1-12" DI out Headphone out, aux in ( iPod or computer) and weighs about 20 lbs .
I like my 15 because it's divisible by 3.

That's just crazy talk
I've been using the GK Neo212 for several years and find it a well ballanced and a great sounding cab. I also have an old school Ampeg 215, I like as well. Comparing size and tone, the GK212 gets used most. I also have a Genz Benz Uber 410, my favorite cab, but for most gigs it's a bit too much. So, in the end 12's are fantastic for nearly every gig I play.
I'm going to build a great big cab with about a hundred 1 inch speakers from little transistor radios. It'll sound just like a tinny little 1 inch speaker, only louder

Was skeptical myself,with the 12's? Had the GK 200MB,back in the mid 80's. I managed to get another one,couple weeks ago,with 112MBX extension cab. It sounds great,and plenty of bottom end,IMO. Always used the the 15's down through the years. Impressive,IMO.

...actually, any number is divisible by 3, but the result will not always be another prime number or even an integer. OMG, is it possible we're on to something here that in some convoluted way is related to finally explaining the differences in speaker performance based on their diameter?
15's those are bass speakers for sure, 10's, I've seen a lot of bass players use them, so maybe there's something about the fuzz about them.
But 12's?

Good luck with transporting those to the gigs too, not to speak of finding room on the scene for them.
Seriously though, that is some serious big cabs, I have no doubt they are effective.
