15-string Prat Bass for Jauqo III-X

Hi again.
The neck is glued. Then, I was cleaning the top, bottom... And, I was making the "almost" final thickness of the neck. Jauqo wants a very thin one, so I was working carefully: now, the nut part has 13mm thickness... + fingerboard (5mm) = 18mm. So Finally it will be around 17.5mm) to 17mm... wow!!! I normally use 19mm to 20mm in my basses!!!
I will install 2 trussrods in this neck + 1 graphite bar (1/4 diameter) to have stability.

Hey guys, I would like to mark the occasion of my very first post on Talk Bass by introducing myself as a friend and customer of Oscar F. Prat. We met almost a year ago, when he did some work on one of my non-Prat basses. I could see right away that his work was very special. At the time, he was preparing projects for the Summer NAMM. It didn't take long to make the decision to ask Oscar to make one of his beautiful creations for me. Having the luxury of living ten minutes from his workshop, we ended up spending lots of time together. He took the time to get to know me by asking a lot of questions about what I like in a bass, as well as questions about my playing style. He also made many well thought out recommendations to me too. The result was the decision to build a single-cut 5 string. Here is a breakdown:

Neck: Curly Maple/Wenge
Body: Curly Koa top & back
Curly Maple/Wenge core
Fretboard: Ebony
Electronics: Villex system w/ Villex Booster
Hardware: Hipshot

Oscar has posted pics of this bass. It plays like a dream and sounds incredible! He was building my bass at the same time he was working on several other basses, including the 12-string Headless Prototype. It was really cool to witness all of this work first hand. He's a great guy and really puts his heart into every instrument. I really consider myself and our local bass community very fortunate to have a bass luthier of his caliber right in our own back yard. By the way, did I mention that he is currently building a four string "Classic" style bass for me at this time? I'll post details of that bass in my next post. Ok friends, so I was cutting the bubinga for the top and back of the body. This is a very beautiful bubinga pomelle, plenty of color and figure. It is very difficult to work with, because is so hard and machines (like the planer...) broke it very easy.
Because it is pretty heavy, I'm going to use 4mm only. It will be sufficient. Now every board has 5.5mm, so I need to sand a lot...:bawl:

Today I had some time for Jauqo's bass, and I was working on the central part of the bass: the fingerboard.
I choose a very nice piece of ebony. When I bought this board, it was 40" x 5" x 2.5". Jet black, well seasoned and no one crack in it. One of a kind! I reserve it for special ERB orders (well, no more than 9 string single course...).
