15-string Prat Bass for Jauqo III-X

the individual that made that 15 for Fieldy told me that it was the same 5 string model that Fieldy was already using. And that he just took one and added 15 strings and that it doesn't stay in tune.


And this is not a knock on Ibanez.

Ok, so here is the Bridge. It is the "central" part of the bass.

The distance between the first and the last string is 108mm at bridge. Nut will be 78mm. So, the "feel" of this bass is like a 8 string bass single course.
Distance between each group of triples is 17mm... I think it is correct, because a closer distance would make this guitar look and feel like a harp, with all the strings "together"

I was selecting woods last week. Sorry, I don't have pictures of the original boards...
The maple is well figured, with a beautiful curly.

The choice of these wood is because we want the classic soud of a Fender jazz. So maple is perfect.
Purpleheart sounds pretty close to maple, and add some mids.
The central ebony stripe will add some "snap" that we are looking for.

Well, all this is theory... we can't compare a jazz bass (4 string) with this monster 15 string bass, but I'll try!!!!

Hi. All strings will be on the saddles. I need to make the slots, yet.
Here is a picture of the first prototype of this bridge. It was too little (strings was to close), and fundamentals was in the right position, not in the left... but you can see the slots, so is possible it can help to understand.

Really? two 1/4" laminates of purpleheart will add some mids and a central laminate of ebony will add some snap:hmm:

All this UNDER a fretboard. Maybe I'm well off the mark here, but I just dont get this "tonewood" business.

My ramblings aside, this is gonna be one killer bass!!!
