Ok, so a lot of work before Cristmas.
First, i was cutting the swamp ash for the "wings".

Like you can see, this wings are pretty thin (like 2/3 of a full ones), because we need to glue the top and the back to have the total body thickness.

Then, I have removed the rest of the neck at the body, right up to the fingerboard. Here is a detailed picture

Looks good! pickup covers and knobs matching the body, too!

Ok, so pickup covers. William Villex craft the electronics for this bass. No too easy to buid a good pickups for a 15 string bass!!! He is making a master piece, with volume-volume-bass-mid-treble.... but all passive!!!

Finally, the headstock. It will be, of course, big... but I have designed a headstock as small as possible

Can I just add to what everyone has already said about this bass.
Amazing shape. Beautiful contours and the longer horn has a really nice profile!
Also, the layering of the wooods gives a really nice layering of different colours! Especially at the neck heel.
Great job so far on this bass! Looks amazing.

I have a plan of a 4 string bolt on in the pipeline. I was wondering would the way you have an extra bit of wood added at the heel work for a bolt on? Because it would save alot of wood and time!!

Oscar does bolt-on jazz style basses with neck-thru construction. I'd really consider it if I were you! I'll try to snag a pic for you. I think I'm going to have him build a short scale piccolo that way.

Shape is clean and done. Well, headstock is not finish, yet.
Now needs to file and sand. Only One week! I will beat my own record!
To fit all these tuners, was not easy!

Yes, pickups are big. I was using my "big" 8 string templates, because we need enough space to fit all the Villex system. It is the first time for the passive eq. system, so I want to be sure that all fit inside
Here is a picture of James Walker 8 string bass with these big pickups.
Pickups looks bigger in Jauqo's bass, because he wants a smaller body.
