16.5 string spacing

I am using a friends Yamaha TRB6 to see if I can make the move to a 6. The string spacing is a little wider than I like, but I can get around on it even tho I have short fingers! I thought about a Ibanez SR5006, or the SR1206e, but this will be my last Bass so I want to step up a little higher. Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with the Ibby, I still may go in that direction, but I'm looking at something like a used smith if the string spacing is to my liking!

A high end bass that I play is a Todd Johnson 6 string model that comes standard with the 16.5mm bridge. Killer tone and feel, it also has radiused pickups that act like a ramp. This bass is truly a purebred race car, you'll be able to do things on this bass that you could never do on other basses. High end price tag, worth every penny tho IMHO, but you won't be playing much else once you play one of these, infact I've actually sold more basses i had after buying and playing my TJ6 only because everything else stayed in the closet. What's the old saying "there's no substitute for quality", save yourself time and money with a quality investment now, rather than losing and spending money and time in the longer run.

I just got a Ibanez GVB36 with 14 mm spacing and am loving it. I have other basses with 19mm spacing and thought the Ibanez would be difficult to get used to but it felt natural right from the start.

I'm not bashing and as I have said I have been thinking about one, but is. Ibanez really in the midhigh or high end ball park! I ask this because I can find a Ibanez used all day the more expensive ones as well as the not so $$!

I want something with a even tone not too aggressive but with some punch like the yamaha my friend let me try, or a Peavey Cirrus, I have a aggressive bass already I use a MM Bongo 5er
