Double Bass 16mm end pin shaft (5/8")

I just bought a bass wheel from Gollihur music. Bob is a real nice guy. My problem is that I made a mistake and measured my bass end pin shaft incorrectly. I thought it was 1/2" in diameter, but I believe it is bigger.
I took a tape measure and measured the diameter (which I probably should have done the first time) and see that it is a 16mm shaft.

a) does anyone have experience with this size of end pin shaft?
b) does anyone know where I can get a shaft this size preferably able to attach to the wheel that I just bought? Ideally it is a shaft with a screw at the other end to connect to a hole in the bass wheel frame.
c) can I make something? I have access to a welder.

kay endpins are 1/2"- call bob gollihur and he'll be able to help you... at least give you some advise.

unfortunately bob didn't have an answer.
I don't have a Kay bass. It is kind of a frankenstein bass, but we believe the back and sides is plywood from Germany.

I should note that I don't think I have a common end pin. The shaft just goes into a collar at the bottom of the bass and I tighten the collar.

if anyone has any experience with a 5/8" (16mm) end pin shaft, how does one put a wheel on it?

I have a 5/8" shaft also. Return the wheel and get a Kolstein Stroller that attaches to your case. I've been using them for 30 years and they are terrific.

Bob G offers different size replacement shafts, among them a 5/8", which works out to 15.875 mm... close enough for rock and roll as they say.

FWIW, i had a wheel ages ago and bought a new bass that had a huge 1" endpin. I just had a welder attach a new, thicker shaft on it. In retrospect that was not too wise, since I have never seen a 1" endpin before or since, and that bass is long gone.
