I was wondering about the recessed sockets and if it is worth the extra money, seems for comfort it may be the way to go.

Yes, it's a protection thing for the connector. As cheap as the option is to add, I'm baffled as to why it's not a standard feature. "But I've had mine forever and a day and I've had no cable troubles". Fine, but how many people have car insurance and don't have wrecks (probably not many)? It's a little but of insurance against damage and failure of the connection.

I think the reason it's not standard is because 1964 Ears seems to discourage it. They claim that it's harder to clean the connectors should moisture and grime cause corrosion: A corroded connection is much worse than a damaged cable pin.

Some people sweat a lot, especially when they're on stage, and moisture and electronics generally don't go well together. I have no idea if this is a common issue or not, I generally don't sweat a lot when I'm playing. If they say it's a more common problem with recessed sockets then I will have to default to their experience. My advice: if you have a sweaty head, don't get recessed sockets :P

+1...I didn't get recessed on mine, and I wish that I did because I've pulled the cable out of the socket plenty of times while on stage. I'll order a second set at some point and I'll definitely go with recessed sockets.

I've worn my V6-Stage IEMs for 4-5 hours at a stretch with zero fatigue or discomfort. Like they weren't even there.
