I'd agree with the others - get the longer cord. Standard length cord is barely long enough if you put your pack in/on your back pocket (I'm 5'11").
My experience with 1964 Ears has been no less fantastic than the ones I've read about from everyone else here. My first pair (Quads) had hard tips & ambient ports. Ambient ports just cut bass, IMHO, and aren't worth getting unless you're playing something other than bass. Hard tips worked fine for a minute, but anytime I'd sing, I'd lose the seal & it wouldn't come back without shoving the things back into my ears. Since losing seal = losing bass, that didn't work for me. [I'll note that I was told by the audiologist that I have unusually large ear canals, so uhhh.. don't make fun of me

] Got refitted (make sure you get open AND closed mouth impressions from the audiologist - should be same cost and it
does matter), sent back to Portland, had some email exchanges with Roman describing the problem and possible solutions, and I had a new set with soft tips and no ambient ports in 2-3 weeks. Awesome customer service, and I'm so happy with the new Quads!
So, in a nutshell, my subjective opinion:
longer cord, open & closed mouth impressions, soft tips

ambient ports, hard tips :***:
