1964 Ears Owners Group

I've got to schedule getting new molds done.. we (my band) just became official 1964 Audio artist/endorsees :hyper:

Going to order some A8's!
That's very cool! congratulations!

I just gigged my A3's and went direct with my RNDI this past Sunday to an X32 board and holy smokes was I over the moon happy. I like the balanced number of drivers more than the A4's and no fatigue at all. Having control via my iPad and a bit more space with no amp was awesome. RNDI was all that and a bag of chips!

I've heard good things about the RNDI. The sound clips I've heard were good sounding too!
It just worked. Nice warmth, drive turns to bite. Very happy with it. Here are 2 videos, one a little lighter song (Sara, Fleetwood Mac), and then Because the Night, where I dig in a little bit. Both were my Sadowsky Will Lee Metro with a Keeley Bassist comp @4:1. Recording was done with a Shure MV88 mic and a little eq in IMovie.

How often does 1964 have sales (like the 15% off)? I was interested in getting the Qi's, but now it looks like the only viable options is either go with the V6 or an A4. Which leads to another question; which one would be better suited to my needs- that of a singing bass player? Right now I'm "getting by" with some Shure SE215's (I used to have Alien Ears C3s- but they've been in for repair 3x's & since they've failed yet again- I'm not wasting anymore time or money with AE's crummy customer service)

Usage update. I decided to stay home today and get some projects done, and I spent about 7 hours with my Qi's in doing chores ranging from painting to brush-clearing. Zero fatigue. As a comparison, I put in some universal buds the other day at work and my ear canal was throbbing after 20 minutes.

My drummer has had the same issue with his C3's.. he's about to dump them and go with 1964.

Their sales are infrequent.. they had one for Valentines day (15%) and an earlier one - I forget the date (20%). Check their FB page or get on their email list ??
I have the Qi's and they are EXCELLENT for bass and singing.. so I'd go with the A4's based on their tuning vs the V6.

This sucks. I was all set to pull the trigger on the Qi's, even though the $549 price was a bit steep for me. I really only use IEMs a couple times a month. I now see that the Qi's have been discontinued, and the Adel A4's are $899. I'm afraid I've been priced out of the custom IEM market.

I think I'll be sticking with my MEE Audio M6 Pro's for now. I may have an opportunity to A/B mine with the Shure SE215 -- maybe I'll upgrade if the sound quality is noticeably better.

BUMMER..and here, I went to get my impressions done today.. no go.. too much wax buildup close to my eardrum, even having used "drops" frequently since last Friday. So.. more drops, get my ears irrigated, then back Monday pm... :banghead:

Get the A3s. I went from Qi to A3 and am very happy.

Had to get my cables replaced on my V6 stages. Called them up, they said they would replace them no questions asked. great customer service. You can see the exposed wire coming out of the shielding in the picture

I use my Qi's for both church and secular gigs - some 400+ hrs of use in 2015 - and both stock cables I have bought (over the last 2 yrs) have discolored/oxidized/greened and the plastic Y-split starts cutting one side in and out. IOW - the stock cables AIN'T that great..

I have searched for replacements, but I'm NOT willing to pay for audiophile [snake oil] cables for live monitoring. Doing lots of research and based on feedback on headfi.org, I found (and ordered) a set of braided CIEM "Midnight" cables with a "straight" jack from Brian Goto (http://www.btg-audio.com/).
Not arrived yet, but being replacements, they'll FIT the A8's that I'm getting impressions made for Monday afternoon!!

If anyone went from the Quads to the A4s, can you comment if the bass voicing is the same or if the ADEL module balances the bass out some on the A4s? Steve says that the graph on 1964 Audio was the same for the two, but I am interested in input from those that may have had both.

Also, the A4s are the same price as the U6s. Given the choice between the two, which way would you go? I am guessing A4 (custom) for the better fit unless one must have the voicing of the U6, but maybe others have some other input.

FWIW - Impressions shipped (2-day) today, order placed for my new A8's and accepted today.
Here's hoping USPS doesn't crush, damage, lose, route my package to Timbuckthree and it gets there as I paid for it!!
Mind you, the USPS price was about a 1/4 of UPS' for same delivery schedule.

Now starts that d*mn wait!! :banghead:

I live on the east coast but buy my espresso beans from Klatch Coffee in Washington State, I pay for USPS 2 day and it seems to always take 3-4 days. When I complained to USPS they said they don't guarantee 2 day delivery. I hope you have better luck.
