I just need a longer cable, the stock one's just short enough to be annoying to me if I wear a hoodie and wear the cord on the outside for practice. I'd love to upgrade to a quality "audiophile" cable for off-stage listening, When I replenish the "fun fund", it's on The List :)

had the same issue on every 64 cable, so just went with a custom one. Waiting for the BTG one to arrive today. Hope it's good as it took him 7 weeks to get it out to me (he was a lot quicker responding to the order request than to emails requesting status).

It took him about 5 weeks to do mine. . he's a small, sole proprietor vendor, and I'd guess does this part time ?
However, the cable quality was awesome.. and I had other cables available to use..

I'm on my fourth cable from 64 Audio (I got my V3's back in 2012 so that's four in five years.) The issue for me is the wear and tear on the 2 pin connection into the ears. Over time the pins start to wear out and the connection gets loose, to the point that if I take my IEM's out of my ears they may fall on the floor, or the cable might get disconnected while I'm on stage.

Is this something that a custom cable could "fix"? Because it would still need to have the same connection. I've been thinking of getting new ears made and switching to JH Audio just because they have an option for a locking twist collar connection instead of the 2 pin method that everyone seems to use. Any other ideas?

The BTG cable I have (and none of the other stock cables) have ever loosened as you have described.. Been using the 2-pin with 1964 for about the same length of time now as you have.. about 5 yrs. The stock cable pins in my original Qi's are still good, even tho' I keep them as a backup set now.
The BTG 2-pin ends have a much tighter fit than the stock 1964, and the plastic sleeve forming the curved shape over the ear is much stronger also.
If you are breaking (loosening) the pins connection, are you removing the buds using the cables or pulling them out by the shell?
Do you remove the cable connector from the shell at all ?
Curious, as I have not heard of this issue before..

I have a spare cable from them always in my bag... I use the A12's customs... hate the right angle plus as well
Haven't had an issue with the cable yet but I'm sure I will as all of them crap out at some point ... that why I have one spare..
BTW anyone who is cosidering getting 64 audio in ears .... DO IT!!
Best money I've spent on gear

Do you have recessed sockets?

I second this! I got the same ear plugs. I wear them in between sets and at concerts. I can still talk to people around me and hear the music clear without ear fatigue.

I also just received my first pair of 64 Audio in ears. I went with the A8's and they are amazing! Big upgrade from my Westone UM30s (as good as they may be). Here's a pic.

I definitely don't pull my ears out by pulling the cable, I twist the shell. I don't have recessed sockets on mine, maybe this would help. I do use my ears a LOT - 4-5 gigs per week, rehearsals, etc. The drummer I play with has the same issue with Ultimate Ears (they use the same connection as 1964 Ears). He gets a new cable every 6 months or so.

So I have worn custom ear plugs for years now, with the 15 insert, though not 1964 brand. These have been great for reducing any further damage to my hearing I am sure of. But, in the back of my head I keep thinking that IEM would be even better with much greater ability to know what is going on with other musicians. So last week, after reading this entire thread, I bought some A4's - Monday this week they accepted my molds so the wait begins. It is a mixed bag as currently my main gigging band is not IEM, however, we do mic everything for the PA and there is an aux out for me along with WIFI connection to do my own mix - which I currently do with my wedge anyway. So even though I have to keep hauling my rig at least I will hear everything great along with hearing protection. So looking forward to trying these out!

You will be glad you did. I'm solo on IEM, but starting to get questions about them from the other guys, so maybe some more will join. You have a good PA setup, so they will be really awesome with your own mix.

Welcome aboard! My band is 1964 Artists and I've been using them for 4 or 5 yrs now.. The A4's are the ADEL version of my old Qi's - which I LOVED !
My current A8's give me pristine audio and no fatigue during gigs!! You'll LOVE the A4's!!

Thanks everyone. I have decided not to go wireless due to the fact that I always have an instrument cord anyway. I bought the HPA1 for my amp, at least to start with. It has a built in limiter and a AUX in. This will be a nice setup for me to practice alone and not bother the wife. The originals band I play in everyone has IEM and the practice space also has wifi mix capability, so real good there.

I use the HPA1 and a Y-splitter for stereo with very good results both live and practicing. You'll like it.

I guess I don't know how the y splitter is working for you, I understand a mono signal out of the Aux send and then you split it into the two inputs - but it just seems like it would still be mono in the ears???? I can be slow for understanding this sort of thing.

Thinking about this order it came to my realization that I am completely doing it to save myself from anymore hearing damage, and the IEM themselves I will not always be able to wear. My about 5 year old custom silicone earplugs are getting pretty worn, if fact my dog chewed off a bit of one some time ago - so since 1964 has my most recent molds I just went ahead and ordered some of their earplugs as well for concerts and other gigs with no send from the board. Hope they work well for me as the old ones have become a staple for me.

If you've never used custom IEM's before, there's quite a bit of isolation from them... up to -26dB. With the a964 A series, you can order different diaphragm units with different isolation levels - and it's almost like wearing ear plugs, with WIRES attached :)
For example:
The -15db (M15) modules - Invalid Link Removed
or the -20db (M20) - [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Those are FAR cheaper than a separate set of plugs.. YMMV
