If you've never used custom IEM's before, there's quite a bit of isolation from them... up to -26dB. With the a964 A series, you can order different diaphragm units with different isolation levels - and it's almost like wearing ear plugs, with WIRES attached
For example:
The -15db (M15) modules - Invalid Link Removed
or the -20db (M20) - [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Those are FAR cheaper than a separate set of plugs.. YMMV

Very True and thanks for pointing that out. But, attending a music camping festival or busy concert I would rather carry around $200 hearing protection instead of $900+. It is all expensive, but way cheaper than hearing loss. I actually easily have enough unused gear laying around to sell and pay for a good majority of this, I should get on that one of these days

I guess I don't know how the y splitter is working for you, I understand a mono signal out of the Aux send and then you split it into the two inputs - but it just seems like it would still be mono in the ears???? I can be slow for understanding this sort of thing.

I have this one; very happy as it's 3.5mm on both ends, so no adapter necessary for most situations.

Well I just ordered my first set of CIEMs and am absolutely excited! I was getting ready to order some A8s when I happened to see the 20% off sale on the new A18s... So you know, got em'!

I have used the Westone UM Pro 30s (poor build quality in my opinion) and very recently purchased the 64 U4 SE's that they were selling on massdrop. I needed something pretty bad to last me until I could get a set of customs in, as my westones have just totally failed and fallen apart on me. I love the U4s already, and they came with both the M20 and M15 apex modules. Personally for me, the difference is very small when comparing them. The M20s seem to favor low frequencies just a tad better, as one would expect. So I'm gonna keep them in.

As for the A18s, I'm thinking if these U4s sound this good to me, then the A18s must be a small slice of what heaven will sound like someday lol. I am also very curious to see how the tia drivers sound.

I didn't have time to finish making my custom artwork before the sale ended. Does anyone know if 64 will let me do that after checkout, before they begin building them? They can't really start yet anyway until I get impressions made and sent in.

Any church worship band bass players here have experience with the A18s?

I've had my A8's for over a year.. done 80+ gigs with them. I used Qi's (A4's) for 2 yrs before that. While they are NOT night and day.. there are some very distinct but subtle enhancements in the LF end that make them AWESOME for me. I also love the ADEL's as they sorta act like ambient ports. .you get the custom seal, but also get to hear what's going on around you. I can talk on stage without removing them..
You'll love them tho'..

Well, my A4's build sat stagnant for about a week and finally moved up to shells processed. I hope this means they will start coming together! I am only two weeks in so not too worried and expect at least the 4-5 week to be a reality. The waiting is the hardest part...
I did try my new 64Audio plugs out this weekend though and they are a very nice piece of kit. Very comfortable and removing that wash of noise getting down to the core of the music nicely. No ear fatigue at all.

Yeah, I kinda gassed for the 8's but thought the 4's with apex would be a solid first try for in ears.

Was able to have rehearsal last night with the new A4 monitors. I did not have drums in the mix, but everything else was. I also changed out the apex module from the stock -20 to a -15 that I use in my regular plugs. It sounded awesome and the drums actually sounded like they always do since I essentially had my ear plugs in with the -15 insert. The clarity was just great, I really don't have words for it. The bass was full and clear all the way down to a low C note. I didn't have the bass up higher in the mix either really, mixed it to set in fairly naturally and I could hear everything I needed. I did not have any feeling of isolation, I believe that is because I always wear ear plugs and they kinda do isolate you in many ways, but in a good way for ear protection. I just really think this is one of the best purchases I have ever made in my +30 years of music, even over a lot of my "normal" equipment that many feel is the most important. They also have wonderful extra uses for me; using them to listen to music I need to learn I am able to really hear what is going on better - as well, I live in a small house with my wife, and practicing can be a schedule nightmare sometimes so I don't bother her. I have tried over the ears and other quiet methods of practice, but these A4's through a small mixer with my bass, ipod or phone mixed in works fantastically to get the job done.
Really, really happy camper right now.

I finally bought the bullet and ordered some plugs - I was fed up with the universals I had that weren't actually blocking any sound in one ear. I just went with blanks for now, but I plan on getting some -15dB modules eventually for music listening. 1-2 weeks is an easy pill to swallow for waiting.

Spend the money once and you'll be amazed on the sound quality and comfort
I fought my A12's for 700.00 off soneone and spent the 350.00 for remold at 64 audio
Got a smoking deal on mine just before I was going to order new A6's for the same money

Anyone try the Universals before getting the custom molds? I'm loving my U6's and don't really have any issue with isolation at all, just wondering how much different it really is. I did a gig with them last month and didn't even realize there was an issue between my DI and the house because the bass felt "right". Played the first 2 songs before someone texted me that they couldn't hear what I was rocking out to lol.

I switched from 3-driver Westone universal IEM to custom Qi's from 64audio - it was a big difference for me. You'll get a better seal and as a result be able to operate them at a lower volume - this not only protects your hearing but it helps prevent audio distortion that comes from pushing the drivers too hard.

I can only guess that is the truth, unfortunately my ear canals are so weird that I can't get a universal fit into them to save my life. Never could use many ear phones to any good degree. But, I do know that the customs are just that, customized fit for your specific ear to deliver the best possible tone and comfort.
