1974 Jazz Bass unusual paintwork!!

Hey all I hope you're all doing well. Below is a picture of my 74 Fender Jazz Bass which spent nearly all of its life in a hardcase. What's wierd is that underneath any of the covered areas has gone DARKER. After a pile of research I came across this article that might explain why

A lot of that is years of grime that would polish off fairly easily, but in many cases the pick guard does hold on the environmental stuff that yellows plastics and finishes over time. Some plastic pickguard formulations increase this, along with sweat getting under the pickguard and playing in smokey clubs etc. Judging by the amount of buildup under the pickguard this bass wasnt a case-queen despite having been kept in its case all this time. Great bass!

Thanks for the info buddy, it certainly has been played a fair bit from what I was led to believe by the last owner and the case certainly has that pub/club smell to it lol. It's a really nice bass fortunately with little or no fret ware and the bindings intact....View attachment 5041561
