1977 Fender Jazz Bass Neck Authenticity Check

Hi Everyone,

Does this neck look to be authentic to you?

I notice that the string tree is over the "Fender" logo more than I've ever seen before.

Any feedback would be great.

Looks totally fine. The decals were applied by hand, looks like that one was put on a little higher up is all. It has been converted to a 4 screw though, so it isn't all original

I don't think there is any doubt that it is a '77 Fender Jazz bass neck - the frets have been leveled nearly flush with the fb as it probably had a lot of use/wear.

Sure looks good and legit. As mentioned, the decals were applied by hand, and the tree was also installed free-handed.

Those tuners were phased out in mid 76 though.

Thanks. What does "phased out" mean in the context you are using it? Do you mean "the gradual consumption of existing part stock was being used up and this part would soon be supplanted by the next generation of tuner"?

Or are you saying something else?

FYI - It looks like those tuners are on all the 1977 necks I'm seeing online...

I've got the newer style Schaller Tuners on my early '76 Jazz. I have seen the old style ones on '77 Precision Basses but not on the '77 and later Jazz Basses.
