1980 ibanez blazer wiring

hey guys, im having a bit of trouble with the wiring on my ibanez blazer that i recently aquired. it picks up alot of electrical interference and the tone knob has suddenly stopped working. ive taken a look at the electronics and it looks like the capacitor(?) has broken off from the volume pot, and is only attached to the tone pot. could this be the cause? any suggestions? the cavity is unshielded. cheers, sorry about the bad pic.

My guess would be, that the broken connection could be the main problem. If it were me, I would resolder the connection for the cheap quick fix. Then plan on ordering some new components, and doing a complete rewire and sheilding job on it. You could order a basic P bass wiring kit for very little cash, as well as the sheilding tape.
