1982 Fender P bass special-walnut

my first bass I ever owned was a Peavey Patriot walnut P bass. I loved that bass. I got it when I was a junior in high school (1987). Used it through college and about 15 years after that in various bands. I sold it to my nephew a couple of years ago but I am going to ask him if I can buy it back.
But anyways, when I saw the Fender it reminded me of the Patriot. Obviously the Fender is way better but im just talking about the look of the wood. If I can't get the Fender I'll try to get the Patriot back. That should cost me around 100 bucks.

I got mine for around $800 on Ebay several years ago. Great bass and not too heavy at around 9.5 lbs. Now in retirement as I don't want to gig with it anymore, too valuable. I still don't believe Fender only made around 200 of these judging by the posters that have owned these at one time.

Why would you offer 15% less when the item is substantially underpriced?

If this isn't a scam, the seller has at least a few buyers by now trying to be the first to pick it up immediately. And at least a few others that once told a buyer was on his/her way, are offering more and/or telling the buyer it is a $2000-2500 bass. I see this all the time.

As an example, last year I saw a pre-EB Stingray in rough shape listed on CL at a pawn/thrift shop for about $600. I happened to see the ad immediately, called and had them hold the bass and was there within an hour. The seller told me that he had more than 10 calls/emails within the first hour and 4 offers between $650 and $1200. He sold it to me as listed as the bass "wasn't a fender" and needed work. I dropped $200 into it and sold it for much higher than I paid.

Sometimes you get lucky, but these type of deals are rare these days.

They are pretty rare, but since the beginning of the year, I've seen at least 4 or 5 pop up for sale...they are out there and sold by reputable mom and pop shops..you just gotta REALLY look...

Ditto every word of this. My senior year '83/84. This was the most badass bass (as far as I was concerned) in my local music store (Brook Mays). Heavy but awesome.

It looks good but it's hard to tell if anything is wrong with it. That's why I wanted to get my hands on it an play on it for a while. Who knows? Maybe the neck is warped, etc... Still waiting for him to reply, unless he already shipped the bass out...

Yeah definitely try to play it first, especially with all the sketchiness...

The top of the line (for that time) walnut Elite Precision is even nicer imo, but that one looks pretty awesome.

There's been an Elite walnut P in my local CL for months, no takers. Looks almost untouched, but the price is crazy high...
