1985 Fender Jazz Bass Special?

Hey guys. I found this real nice 85 fender jazz bass special made in Japan.

One thing however, that I noticed is the slanted position of the pickups. I've never seen this on a fender bass, or even on a jazz bass special.

Upon contacting the seller, he says it's really like that.

Any info on this? Has anyone seen this before? I'm just a little skeptical. Here's a pic of the headstock too just in case.

Here's a bit of the Fender Japan '85 catalogue. Looks a lot like the PJ-535. Just a guess, but yours may be from '87. I have a '87 Jazz Bass Special that is the same as the PJ-555 except the neck is natural (not black).

yes PJ-535, but the knob and output jack have been modified.

Yeah, for some strange reason, the switch was changed to a knob and the knob was changed to a jack etc etc.

Thanks on the info guys. How's the quality of this one? Around how much would this go for?
