1987 Peavey Fury value? Nostalgia vs. Function

My first guitar was terrible too. It came from a department store, the brand name was Saturn. Strings so high off the fingerboard I couldn't play barre chords.

Lucky - mine didn't even have a brand name!

Just in case anyone was interested in this continuing story. The seller pulled the eBay ad, it is now up on Reverb, talking about how one "recently" sold for $560.

I feel like playing dumb, and messaging him, saying, "That's too high, man. You should sell it for $350."

I saw that one on reverb and wondered if it was this same one “Are you sure you didn’t flip that first digit? Because I might do $250.”

I was very fortunate, my first bass was really nice.

I had to sell it in college to make rent, and have always regretted it.

I see this sentiment frequently but I just can't relate to it. I distinctly remember my first bass back in the 70s being a piece of junk! I don't miss it at all. Every thing I've owned since has been a step up.

Folks can definitely still find them for $100, since last October not one Fury has made more than $250 on eBay.
Opening more than 50 Peavey basses I follow all the Peavey interest groups on the web, they all claim prices and demand are high.
In the real world nobody gives 2 hoots

He’s being greedy. If he really could get his price he likely would have said thanks for asking and then moved on.

That's down from 60something. Owned at least one of every model and the variations within the models, 1st/2nd & 3rd gen Furys, 1st & 2nd gen Dynabasses/ TL-5's that kind of thing Along side USA and BXP releases there are European only models like the Aberdeen acoustic bass and the Zephyrs.

Heck, I've a Resolite under the bed. Not too many folks know about the Resolite bass as Peavey only ever built 4 of them.

He’s not in touch with reality. One more good reason not to even bother: imagine if anything went wrong with the sale, and you had to deal with that. Hard pass. Maybe reality will start creeping in when it sits at that price for two years.

Never got a chance at them

4 were built, 2 for the USA and 2 for Europe.

I know where 2 of them are, still in the hands of Peavey folk. 1 is with head of engineering , the other with senior engineer digital design. Got mine after Ken Achard, former head of Peavey UK, had a clear out. While 2 were destined for Europe it's likely only 1 made it. I was told the 4th was in the possession of yet another Peavey engineer when he skipped town to work for Acoustic Amps

No need for a site/shop. Peaveys are quite scarce in Europe so I monitor Peavey facebook groups for interested parties.
It's a long term plan but seems to work. My fellow Europeans are saved the troubles I faced when buying and I know my basses are going to genuine folks not flippers.

I believe you are looking for a Fury, Gen2, Red, in the standard/factory configuration (w/o changes to PU, Tuners etc.) It is the type of quest they live for at the Peavey thread...and yours is attainable at a price you will like.. GLWTB...
