1992 Sterling?

So I got it. It's at my luthier/repair guy right now getting all the good love. It's a '94 according to the serial number. The neck has great birdseye, and some flame/quilt on the edges that have some depth to it. Nice wide grain ash body. I'm real happy with it.
Any thoughts on if a different pickguard would look better? Tort, pearl, cream, mint?

Does anyone know if this is cherryburst or honeyburst? Are those two different finishes? I feel like I've seen it referred to as both. Maybe not. Those are the pictures I got from the guy I got it from. I'll get some better pictures of it when I get it back.

I'm trading for a 94 Sterling this weekend, and it looks similar to yours, except it has a maple fretboard. I believe you can send the serial to EBMM customer service, and they can give you all the deets, including the color name.

oops...you're right, apologies. pretty sure the op's bass is honeyburst though. Had a Sterling SUB that color.

After looking a few over, honeyburst and cherryburst are pretty similar, but I think you're right. I think the one I'm getting is cherryburst:
Looks a bit more red than the OP's around the edges. Lighting plays a lot into how the color comes across, so it's still kind of hard to say, without EBMM's confirmation.
I agree it's a good idea to get info from the manufacturer based on the serial number. I do that with most basses I have, print it out and put it in the case, sort of like a bass guitar's birth certificate. Good way to either get replacement parts or to confirm original specs.

That's a great idea! It'd be cool if everyone did this, so there would be documentation of the life of an instrument.
Sweet. It’s the maple brother to mine!!!! I think mine might be Cherryburst, maybe not. I don’t know that it ever really gets to red on the edge. . Here’s a pic my luthier took when I dropped it off.
And, yes I realize it’s in a Fender case. The case the guy had was junk and not original, so I kept my case from my Jazz. I’ll get a proper case eventually.
Ernie Ball responded that it is a 1994. They also said it's a Sunburst. I wouldn't have guessed that.
It's beautiful. Looks so much like the first one I had. I sure miss that bass. Enjoy it!
This my 2010 Sterling in vintage sunburst. Awesome bass. AFAIK Slinky's have a hexagonal core, try strings with a round core. These tend to be more flexible.
Great bass you have there - enjoy - EB did a vintage sunburst at that time but as a 'custom' colour with a price mark up - they're extremely rare. The colour was renamed honeyburst in the late 90s and vintage sunburst became a standard colour (still with a price mark up - along with natural).
