1x15 standalone cab?

I have two GK MBE-III combos. What are the best extension cabs to get for them? Would the GK112mbx be enough for a decent gain in volume?

I think so. It would give you double the speaker cone area (obviously) and you would get the full 150 watts out of the combo. I doubt it would be a super loud rig, since 150 watts is 150 watts. But definitely louder.

If brand matching is not as important to you, maybe an 8-ohm Avatar 112 Neo would be another good choice.

The 12" in my MBS III is the most inefficient speaker I have ever played through. Although it does sound damn good. The reduction in tone quality and bass response as you turn up the output level is due to the speaker rather than the whole amp as some insinuate.

The GK 112mbx is a beautiful lightweight package that would compliment the amp perfectly if VOLUME/LOUDNESS is of very little concern to you.

Otherwise, IMO it is overpriced and a waste for someone like me. I'd check out at least the GK neo 112 II if you care about volume.

going slightly against the grain with my vote for Bag End S15L.
larger cabinet, more low end, but still with high end and mid punch to spare.
it's my only cab, and nobody's ever complained.

Yeah, the Orange 1x15 is an incredible cab.

Also, you might want to do a search for the 1x15 shootout that Tom Bowlus did a while ago. Lots of solid info there.

My OBC115 is my only cab and it sounds fantastic, made the Aguilar GS115 sound anemic side-by-side. Handles 400 watts, too. I want another.

I've been using a Schroeder 15+L for many months now and agree with most of the comments in here. Its a pretty amazing little cab and powered with one of the lightweight heads like a Little Mark II, its very punchy with quite a bit of volume. It sounds more like a louder 1x12 or 1x10 then your average 1X15, but thats totally a good thing.

I have a pre-Fender SWR Son of Bertha that's been through alot of amps and never complained, and now sits in a practice studio with a Peavey T-Max. When I bought it, it was the loudest single 15 inch cab at the local GC - by far. That was a while ago, and there are newer designs, but it still takes a lickin'...
Maybe one of them used (providing the PAS 15" isn't blown)?

We use an old Music Man cabinet with the bottom slot, and a JBL 2226H. We also can go with a Aguilar DB-115. I think the 1x15 works good for a lot of the gigs most guys play.
