2 15s or 15 and 210 combo (Genzler)

Hey everyone
I recently have acquired a Genzler Bass Array series 2 115 cab
My plan was to save money and get a 2nd one
Though I'm wondering if I'd be better off pairing it with Genzler's BA 210 on top instead
Curious what other people have done with experiencing using multiple cabs because I've only ever used a single
I just don't know if I'd be better off running 2 15s stacked or a 15 and a 210
I play 5 string
currently have a Markbass vintage 1000w amp head
Might buy the Bergantino ultra head in the future

Me personally, I prefer two 115 cabs.

But, I also have the ability to run two 210 cabs, or two 115/210 stacks being pushed by two different amps. I also have a 4 ohm 212 cab that is with a 4 ohm capable amp left on stage at my church. And since two of my amps are 2 ohm capable, I of course can run all four of my 8 ohm cabs at the same time off of one amp.

My last live rig was Markbass two tens and a fifteen. I thought it was cutting through(tens) with great bottom (15). Worked great for me for classic hard rock/classic metal.
Yeah the Markbass Traveler Series, the 210 stacked on a 115 works pretty well. I prefer two 115 cabs, but sometimes when I need just a little less the 115/210 is the way to go. And that's the combination I used at church for awhile until I switched over to a single 4ohm GK 212 and brought the Markbass stack home.

Not all cabs &/or combinations are created equal.

If you've seen Nate Navarro's videos of the Genzler BA cabs, he seems to like the 210 over 115 combination - so at least you know that would be great.

Obviously, two BA 115's would also be great, so there is no losing scenario either way.

The 210 & 115 would also mean you could have 3 different options for any gig or practice.

Trying to compare different combinations of other manufacturers' cabinets to get a sense of the tone of the different BA combinations is "almost" worthless (sorry).

Your best bet is to find someone who has played both combinations (of the BA series) who can give you some sense of the difference in tone.

Thank you very much! Thanms to everyone's inout
I'm hoping Jeff Genzler could hop on this post and give some input haha, wishful thinking on my end ✨

You might put this same question to the players in the Genzler Amplification thread where you're gonna get suggestions based only on Genzler Bass Array cabs and it's more likely Jeff will also see it and chime in. But in the end the choice will be up to you and based more on what you play and where you play. Personally I like the versatility of having both a 15" cab and a 2x10" cab but that's me. You do what's best for you.

Thanks! I've been reading these forums for years and just decided last night to make an account, with this being my first post. I appreciate the guidance. I'll try to find the Genzler forum.

I also play 5’s and drop tune a lot. I’ve had the 15-3, 210-3, and 410-3. Alone the 210-3 has a bit more low mid grunt where the 15-3 is smooth with deeper lows. Combined they were awesome! I did not care for the 210-3 solo, but the 15-3 solo was my most gigged cab by a long shot. I never got to try 2 15-3’s but I can not imagine a world where I wouldn’t love the tone.

Here's the Genzler Club thread

I never owned Genzler cabs but...,
In my past experience with other cab brands, I never liked the results mixing speaker size...
That was until the Mesa Subway series came out...they are designed to work well with mixing different speaker size cabinets together and I have owned and tried most of them with great results.
I think it comes down to if Genzler Designed the different speaker size cabs to perform equally well together??

I can’t speak to two Genzler 15s but I had a Mesa 215 and now have a BA2 210 and 115 and I like the 210 and 115 better than I liked 2 15s. The Mesa was more articulate than other 15s I’ve played but with two it was too much rumble. The Genzler 220 and 115 play together just right to give me awesome bottom end and top end articulation.
Thanks for posting this, I have two Subway 115s and I think one is fabulous inside, sometimes I throw a C4 or a TE 110 on top. Inside I have noticed something interesting with the tone with 2 115s, but I have not figured it out yet. Outside, with a full band, (with keys), 2 Subway 115s work really well for me, (I power the 2x115s with a Quilter800).

I have a Genzler BA-115 and 210 setup, driven by a Magellan 800. I think the combination is amazing. If I were to use a single cab, I'd probably prefer to use the 210 rather than the 115. It doesn't extend as low as the 115, but it's got more punch and clarity. The 115 and 210 are nice compliments to each other, IMO. I really can't think of a better rig, except perhaps to replace the Magellan with a Kinetix to get some tube flavor.

Thanks for using our gear and for the question. This is of course personal preference but I will say that one of our most popular multi cab rigs is the BA2-115-3 with the BA2-210-3 on top, either the straight or slant versions. The blend very well together and you get the benefits of the 15" for depth and roundness, the punch and quickness of the 10's and the coupling from the 2 line array columns which well deliver exceptional clarity and dispersion across the stage and throughout the audience. This blend of 2 different cab designs is more preferable to me that 2 of either of the same cabinets but YMMV. We all have different requirements we're looking for from our gear.
Hope this helps and thanks again.

And there you have it!

For years — decades, now that I think about it — my main rig was a 2x10 plus a 1x15.

Occasionally for smaller quieter gigs I would just bring the 1x15.

Tried using the 2x10 on its own, and just didn’t like the sound of that cab by itself. If it had been a better cab perhaps it would have been a nice alternative…but then, Option Anxiety! Which cab to bring if I’m *not* gonna bring both?

So my new rig is (2) 1x15 cabs…because now, I never have to think about WHICH cab, just HOW MANY.
