2 8 ohm vs 1 4 ohm

Hello!

With the LH500, 500 @ 4ohm. With 2 x 8 ohm cabs, is that 250 watts per cab?

So a 4 ohm cab, would give me 500 watts, correct?

Would there be a differance in volume between the two setups?

I am using the 2 x 8 ohm setup now, and honestly I thought it/I would be much louder. I still have to crank it to be heard within the band.

However, the guitars, keys, and vocals are all going through a 1000 watt PA system.

Do I just need more wattage? Or to start going through the PA as well?

As far as a difference, if watts stay the same (500w), then the easiest way to look at it will be in terms of speaker surface area. One 410 with 500w will get creamed by 2 410's with 250w. On the other hand, an 8 410 will still decimate a 110 of an equivalent make even if the 110 is getting the full 500w

Two 8 ohm cabs are can be louder than one 4 ohm. But it depends on a lot of factors. The main two factors are speaker surface area AND cab efficiency.

Personally I like 2 eight ohm 112 cabs because I can stack them and get them closer to my ears which means I can hear myself better without blasting my bandmates.
