I'm building a 2x15 going off some Sunn 2000s plans. I have a friend that has very generously provided me with some D130s (8ohm) and i really would like the cab to be 8ohms so I could build another when I get time. And some more D130/D140s.
IMHO - I would suggest you wire what you have now of 2 8ohm drivers to 4 ohms
Later, if you ever get around to making another rewire both cabs to 16 ohms, and parallel together for 8 ohms in all.
There would be hardly any difference in acoustic output between
4 x 15 @ 8 ohms
or
4 x 15 @ 4 ohms
Forget the "Watts doubling" confusion. It's not that important.
Also, I wouldn't just try sunn measurements to be optimal for the drivers, make sure you use Winisd to double check the cabinet for the drivers.
Consider adding a couple of 6 or 8" mid-ranges with a crossover is you want Loud. See the fEarful threads.
