2 basses in a band?

MARIA had two very cute bassists and didn't sound weird at all.

For some reason I know I wouldn't like to be in such a band to begin with.

Maybe somewhere along the line when I have an established (standard) band, I could try to experiment with two basses. But then again, there are plenty of other instruments to explore that do not invade our (lower) sonic space.
 
Their final concert used to be on Youtube in its entirety, so you could see more easily who played what where. Seems most of it was deleted at some point, but there's still a few songs from it, here's one:

Two basses, two guitars, drums, keys/violin, two lead singers and three backup singers, and it worked.
