2 gigs in 1 night at 2 different venues...

My band had a gig from 12-4pm, had to tear down and then drive 2 hours to play another gig that went from 10-2am, and then we drove the 2 hours back home. It sucked, but we made close to 2k that day :)

My drummer actually has to do that sort of thing a lot. He's in the jazz program at school and probably plays around 4-6 gigs a week. It's not unusual for him to play 2 or even 3 gigs in one day.

I used to do it often. Original gig at 8 or 9 with one band, cover gig with another at 10 or 11. Haven't done it in over a year, but I too enjoy it, and I'm pretty certain I'll be doing it again at some point. Currently playing in 3 bands, and I sub here and there. It's bound to happen.

Haven't done this in a few years, but it was common during the summer for the band I was with back then to play a county fair (usually a 3 hour or so show) in the afternoon, tear down the PA, and head to another town and set up full PA and lights and play a street dance that same night. And we travelled with a VERY large PA system, so it wasn't just plug in a couple cables and go......

We made a lot of money keeping that kind of schedule on summer weekends back then, but damn, when I think back on it, I really don't miss it.........

Just today, I rehearsed from 9-14 with my cover band, then headed to my original band's practice, about 4-5 hours of playing time, then I stumbled into an open jam and played another hour or so.

I'm really knackered now, but it was a good, good day :)

Though, playing two gigs a night is more tiring I guess. Sleep tight, OP!

It WAS fun...but I'm glad not ALL gigs are like that lol - it actually ended up as on at 8:45 off at 9:15...on at 10 off at half past 2 doors down...we didn't have a LOAD of stuff with us, but still had drum breakables and 1 guitar amp so I'm knackered now (it's about 50 miles away in a different city too which didn't make it particularly easy what with the Sheffield rush-hour to get through...anyone from the uk who's done a gig in Sheffield and had to be at the venue for 6 to soundcheck HAVING to go through the one-way-central of our city centre will know where I'm coming from lol)

Like many others have said, happens from time to time. When you finally hit the sack, you are wondering why you did it. When you wake up the next day and open your wallet and look at what's in there, you start wondering when the next one is coming!

Ive done it more than a few times. Last time we played at an Art Show, got paid $75 in tips, and were each given a bottle of wine. THEN we went to a party and rocked out there!

Another time we played a club in LA to almost no one, headed back home and played a huge 300+ attendee party with no lighting. Someone moved their car and we played in the beam of headlights.

Do-able, esp. without gear-lugging.

Once per year OTC(Offshore Technology Conference) comes to Houston.
We do two shows that day(4 hours in the morning/afternoon, drive across town, 6 hours there).
Long day but much worth it.
We're all in our 50's.
