2 gigs in 1 night at 2 different venues...

I've done this one time. And it was not only two different venues, it was two different bands.

It was New Years Eve a few years ago. Played a one-hour set with a hobby band at a hotel around 7 PM, then a 9P to 1A show with my main band at a bar about 15 miles away.

No big deal... set up for the bar gig in the afternoon with my concert rig, showed up for my hotel gig about 6 PM with my combo amp (P.A. provided)... no probs. Nice money too between the two of them.

I've heard rumblings something like this may happen again this upcoming St. Patty's Day... being Saturday and all... but we'll see if that actually transpires.

Did a triple this past summer. Played the county fair twice in the same day - with 2 different bands, then played a 2 hour set that evening with a 3rd band - on sax.

Haven't done it in a while, but earlier this year there was a 4 band festival, Fishstock, at local restaurant Fishbones. I was in 1 band, and filling in with another, so I played 2 gigs at the same place.. Talk about convenient!

This fri, I'm playing at the Rustbelt Market with my jazz band, 6:00 - 7:30, then running down to the Greektown casino to play that night with another band.

Outdoor gig 4-7pm, indoor gig 9-1, 30 miles away. Full tear-down, full set-up. Piece of cake.

Almost did this exact same thing about 8 years ago. Outdoor gigs in a Texas summer suck in and of themselves; I'm sure I didn't play all that well in that second show.

I've done two a day as a mobile DJ (pool party in the afternoon, wedding in the evening), but never as a live musician.

I had to schlep a full PA to both events by myself. Yes, I was knackered the next day.

There have been days where I've done 3 gigs and a lesson. I'll admit, everything being in NYC makes things slightly easier in terms of transportation, but still, it's quite a bit.

Done it more times than I care to remember. Play 9 - 1 at one club, tear down, move across town, set up, and play four more at an after hours club. That was in the 70's, and I wouldn't care to even try it now.

Almost. Had a Wednesday at a bar in Wyoming, first time there and went pretty well. The schedule the agent sent us had us there the next Wednesday as well, which made perfect sense routing wise (should've been our first clue). We show up the next Wednesday, set up, play, break down. As we're getting paid the owner tells us "You know, I didn't actually have you guys scheduled tonight, but since you were already set up when I got here I called the other band and cancelled. Your agent doesn't really have it together, does he?"
