If you look at the Dr Bass 212s think about getting the deep one. The standard depth 212s have a good tight low end but not really deep. They are great cabs.
A used one will go for even less, no better bang for the buck. I believe the quality is just as good as other brands, and I've owned Aguilar and Eden cabs. Just depends if you want the prestige of a fancy logo attached to the grille, imho.
I take the lables off my cabs anyway. Even my Schroeder's I took the lable off. I don't care about them. I am looking for a cabinet that can last a year on the road..
Haha, the Boogie cabs will outlast you if you aren't careful. Then again, they are heavy and deep, and that's for a reason. My 2x10 on top of my Ampeg 410HLF made the ampeg look thin and petite. I also have a PH212 on order and matched with the 210 I was very, very impressed. $843 total, and worth every penny.
I loved my Aguilar 2x12! But unfortunately it was stolen out of my car in Brooklyn. I think it is one of the best all around cabs I have played. I had it on the road for a year and it held up great! Always had plenty of bottom end.
